Re: Active trestle firetruck on tracks. Grand Haven

Oh, and I should say, the initial tip-off from my work just goes to show why the media in this country is so screwed up! It was the opposite of fire.

Re: Active trestle firetruck on tracks. Grand Haven

Yep, was down there shooting video. From what the guy I interviewed said, a large ice jam is not only threatening the trestle, but is creating a dam on the lower branch of the river. The upper branch is pretty congested with ice too, causing a pretty darn swift current in the lower channel (which no...

Re: Active trestle on fire. Grand Haven

going off the tip the paper gave me. It could be wrong. But someone on the scene said there were toxic fumes. And I was not allowed near it. Otherwitnesses said it was smoldering.

I have to interview someone in a few minutes and I will get the full story

Oh yeah I'm pleased to inform you all that I dropped 180 bucks on recovery gear at Tractor Supply yesterday. 1 30' strap rated for 85,000lbs payloud, and a bunch of tractor shackles so I don't have to cut this new 80 dollar strap off of cams truck again. PLEASE READ THIS: VEHICLE RECOVERY BIBLE: ht...

Re: Oh noes, Flood Warning!

I dont think you guys on the east side have enough snow to worry about.... Here on the west side is a completely different story (at least at my place a couple blocks from the lake). It went from 25 to 58 here last night in a matter of minutes, it was crazy. Here is what we had before it got warm (n...

Re: Gregg's Mom

Thanks guys for the well wishes, but I'm not the one who truly needs them. I'm not terribly devastated by this. I am a little sad and, of course, shocked, but I don't feel overly terrible. Those here who are close to me should know that she and I have had a very tense relationship over the past few...

Re: Gerber in Fremont

I was up that way today foaming a long abandoned wooden (and rotting) water tower in the woods down a similarly long forgotten RR grade. Im gonna get and post some pics as soon as the water recedes enough to get the Jeep out there. It is about 15 miles from Fremont, but I passed through on my way th...

Re: Shooting RAW or JPEG?

I shoot raw, and only raw for many, many reasons. JPEG isnt bad for something you just want to toss up online, but when you work in the photography/print industry, raw is essential.

Re: Cleaning the Sensor

Blowing it out is actually worse than doing nothing. My preferred way of cleaning is using a small slightly modified frosting spatula cut down to fit the sensor, wrap a pec-pad around it (lint-free camera lens cleaning cloths), and using some methanol on the pad. Simply open shutter with the cleanin...

Re: Cheap digital SLR

You cannot go wrong with keh.com they under-rate their used stuff, so if it says good condition, it will come in mint condition.

Bought over $15,000 worth of equipment from them, and have not had a single problem. They have some very good deals too.

Re: Your vehicle(s)

And as for my past vehicles, there are alot. Here is a list and a brief overview of each.. First car: 1986 Monte Carlo SS. Mint condition with the 305. It was a very nice car, even if the 305 was kinda wimpy. Later on we dropped a 383 stroker in it as a project. 1986 Fiero GT with a supercharged 380...
