I used to run RoadRailers, I'd say they were shoving too fast or shoving to hard with brakes on. That's why we weren't allowed to shove RoadRailer equipment any faster than 10 mph. Or, depending on how much power they had, maybe too much engine (or dynamic) brake. Or, the one in a thousand bad trail...

The "B-36" symbol is used on the weekends because it is an "extra" train as opposed to being a regularly scheduled train. If they used used the "B-28" I guess it would somehow mess up the computers or the "syetem" wouldn't accept the symbol. Remember, NS is the 51% partner of the hostile takeover in...

Started with Penn Central in 1970. That became Conrail in 1976. Then doomsday in 1999, Conrail was split between NS and CSXT. Went with NS so I didn't have to move. Just over 35 1/2 years on the railroad. I also know how to correctly spell the craft.

Switch comes off Freight Main 3 right in front of the depot and curves around a bit to the south then straightens out eat again and then goes over a pit where they can dump the bal...

Great pics! I was the Engineer Dec 3rd and 4th. Have to laugh, the reason you don't see as much steam past the crossings is that the whistle itself creates a lot of steam if the wind is blowing just right. In your case, that day the wind was blowing everything to the other side of the locomotive. I ...

To run a train up the Lansing Secondary to deliver to the CN would br twice as bad as any Battle Creek move. Several things, the track isn't all that great, and the move to actually get the train delivered to the CN would probably reselt in several derailments. All the way through town on NS to Mich...
