custom painting showcase
Thought I would start this subject so everyone who custom paints their locomotives can post here...There is some fine workmanship I 've seen on this forum and I think it deserves its very own showcase instead of a bunch of different posts...Just when you post your photos state whether they are HO or...

Re: LSRC DECALS! Late, but worth the wait! Order now!!
I recieved your n scale decals yesterday and had a chance today to really check them out....They look fantastic.... they appear very very thin which is nice as they should lay over any details with no problems.....the only thing is on the one sheet for the lsrc #371 it would have been great to have ...

Re: n scale gladstone yard
Excellent point GTW4633....I started out with LS&I a few years ago..bought all U30c and C30-7 off ebay..put decoders in most and then bought a Chessie System SD35..been hooked on Chessie ever since and sold all the Ls& i stuff. Knowing I could not afford to do everything I wanted to do in Chessie I ...

Re: n scale gladstone yard

Re: n scale gladstone yard
Progress on the Gladstone Yard layout is progressing. Track has been wired for operation and runs great. Room has been painted and really changes the overall view. I also painted the track and it turned out pretty good. Now I'll go back and do some fine touch up like adding some more rust to the rai...

Re: n scale gladstone yard
yes I will have some staging....the "closet area" will have staging and possible a helix.....there will be a lower level for the ore subdivision for trains that will enter for that session...it will consist of loaded ore cars from the mines to the dock( staging),,then pick up empties to return to th...

Re: Anyone do their own decals?
I used to,,,still do some,,, but not white,,,finding someone who'll do a small number of them for a reasonable cost is difficult. If you knew someone who still has an ALPS printer that can print white you may have some luck. Otherwise you may be able to find what you need in Microscale Decal line of...

Re: n scale gladstone yard

Re: n scale gladstone yard
yes I was planning on doing that...thought it would be an excellent industry to give some operational variety to the layout.....without looking at my map, i believe it also is a interchange point for els & cn and also the cn ore sub crosses just to the east of the plant. am I correct or do I have so...

Re: n scale gladstone yard
You're mostly correct on the layout being point to point....the closet area is staging right now but it would be a great place for a helix to give me a two deck layout.....the west end of the yard has to turn due to room constraints, but my thought was to continue that to a center peninsula then to ...

Re: n scale gladstone yard
I thought about what you said about the turntable and I might just be able to fit one in......just above the east ladder coming off the one track that leads to the diesel shop.....here are a few pics to show what I might try..paper plate obviously is the stand in for the turntable..better character ...

n scale gladstone yard
Here is my current version of gladstone yard. It is based on a LDE found in the Model Railroad Frieght Yards book. I made a few changes like eliminating the turntable to make room for a larger diesel maintainence facility. Most everything else is copied from the book. The layout is 14' long by 2' wi...

Re: gladstone yard
I know by looking at satellite photos the yard has changed quite a bit...I even wrote to CN for maps or anything and they told me "nothing like that exists"...so I am relying on someone here. Soo line Historical didn't have anything. I recieved a response from everyone I contacted and basically no o...
