Re: Michigan Shortline Updates September 2013
Per Mr Hall, GLC is getting ready to head south soon in Durand with the 396 and 395. HESR is also waiting on CN to head north out of Durand. They're heading north as the 701 despite coming into Durand as the 740. It looks some of HESR's program is a little messed up with the current rail work going...

Re: Ann Arbor Railroad Tracker
They use to always be used for storage, but makes sense to bring in 20-30 Emptys a week and take out 3 or so a day eight the road train... IIRC the plant has a track mobile to move the cars.... I have done a significant amount of work in a plant in Saline. I have never seen a track mobile in the pl...

Re: Michigan Shortline Updates June 2013
The elevator in Carrollton has multiple short spurs. I've been told it can take a full day to load a unit train. Peavy/Gavilion grain has 4 spurs. 2 on the east, 2 on the west of the elevator. Each spur seems to hold a dozen to twenty cars. SOP is to spot the cars, broken in a few blocks on each li...

Re: Your weights and values are wrong
I just wanted to say that your weights and prices are so far off that it makes you look like you have no idea what your talking bout. I have cut over 1000 locos in my short career so if anybody has questions on loco scrap fire away Good for you. How about telling us the actual weights and prices? P...

Re: Michigan Shortline Updates May 2013
Just a few Observations from the Saginaw area. Peavy/Gavilion grain in Carrollton is having some track work done. Looks to be mostly ties and ballast on the river side so far. Also see a few rails there too. On the south end the old C&O building used for the GM Malleable iron foundry crews has been ...

Re: Check this out I was in Durand, is a bc rail engine rare
Ive been working in Port Huron at the old car shops for 3 weeks now. I have seen 1 BC Rail locomotive, and it may have been this one. What's going on down there? We could see work being done from across the yard, but weren't sure if they were cleaning the site up or if something else was going on. ...

Re: HESR Dumps Two Cars of Corn
Hulcher is making a good bit off of Lake State as of late. Its been quite a while since I can remember any actual major track work in the area. I seem to remember tie work about 25 years ago. Short of some brush mowing, there has not been much done along there. I grew up in the subdivision just west...

Re: Michigan Shortline Updates April 2013
Based on that info locomotives that I can't account for are the 9712, 3868, 9519, 8804, 3838, and 8802, not sure what is in the yard in Bay City, and I thought 9712 was on the Alma line, maybe someone could verify this for me. Last report I have heard of on the 9712 was it was at Paines in the last...

Re: Michigan Shortline Updates April 2013
A Southbound HESR train was entering Saginaw 1520, a big cut of tankers and grain cars were all I saw. The 2nd unit appeared to be a GP38-2. Could this be a late 702 or 740? Im pretty sure those cars came off the 800 job today. Caught them sitting on the east side of the LSRC yard today early after...

Yesterday was a busy day for HESR by the sounds of it. Around 2:05pm A corp unti, I think 3868, crossed the Mershon diamond with 62 csx empty grain cars, assuming for Auburn.

Re: Oil Trains
I think oil trains will continue, especially as we shift to more to North American oil, and oil pipelines become more controversial. Or until pipelines are allowed to be built  Good luck with that. A lot of refineries have upgraded their equipment for this oil. Marathon in Detroit is about don...

Re: Michigan Shortline Updates: March
Timming is everything. Had to go to Menards and catch some local trains in Bay City today (just had to be done) Anyway caught HESR's 810 leaving Reese with 3866 for power, then off of I-75 I see LSRC's Bay City job working it's way through Crow Island power was 4302-1169. Caught HESR's 702 with 266...
