Re: Plymouth & GR sub-div Work
I am not sure where the EB signal is, but, yes, I imagine it's work for the US-127 reconstruction. At Trowbridge, they are moving the ramp back, considerably, to offer a smoother turn: Screenshot 2024-02-07 at 15-18-09 I-496_US-127 Public Meeting Presentation - I496-US127-Public-Mtg-Presentation.pdf...

Re: Michigan Grades
What's the grade like around Lake Odessa on the CSX Plymouth Sub? For a relatively flat area through Mid-Michigan, it's rather noticeable. On a side note, the "Lake O Dip" as it is known, almost exactly mirrors the grade into and out of the Detroit-Windsor tunnel. CSX engineers on the CP trains wil...

Re: ADBF/JAIL Changes Made Under New Ownership
Which train is this? It was apparently carrying corn oil, but no cars tipped or anything. Train derailment in northwest Lansing LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – A locomotive and four tanker cars derailed Friday afternoon in northwest Lansing. The train, which was transporting corn oil for Adrian and Blissfie...

Re: L304/305 & JAIL
With the help of some of the posts in this thread, I labeled this photo I just took the other day looking railroad west from Turner Street crossing at the east end of Ensel Yard. Hope this helps! Bing Birds Eye maps are great resources in the Lansing area, too. Ensel from Turner.jpeg Thanks! Though...

Re: L304/305 & JAIL
I've mocked these up from a Google aerial, the colors are to match since I can't share the whole yard: North: https://railroadfan.com/gallery/albums/userpics/18779/Cavanaugh.png South: https://railroadfan.com/gallery/albums/userpics/18779/Cavanaugh_south.png Are all of these tracks still in use? Re: L304/305 & JAIL
Hey, anyone know how many tracks in Cavanaugh/South Yard JAIL uses? The aerials show a pretty rough yard. All I can tell is that the main and one other track seem to traverse the entire yard and connect back together. And then I've seen a video showing a transload on the line to the east of those tw...

Re: L304/305 & JAIL
We were talking about this earlier, but here are the boundaries of the CSX owned-property that apparently used to serve the business(es) on Spikes Street: Spikes.png Pudgy, are you saying that the northern-most JAIL track would have been L09? And then you can see where L08 was pulled if you look cl...

Re: L304/305 & JAIL
Back to Turner and heading west, the south most two tracks at the JAIL's, those tankcars and covered hoppers seen in the google aerial imagery were storage cars on the north track, while JAIL would utilize the south track to get by. There is one CSX siding on the south side of the Mains and the end...

Re: L304/305 & JAIL
Someone should sketch-up a diagram of all the tracks at Ensel and such, or mock-up a Google aerial. And, yeah, the main between Michigan Avenue and North Lansing was pulled decades ago. And, in fact, signifcant parts of it are owned by other property owners, now. For instance between Michigan Ave an...

Re: Future of the Plymouth Sub/Grand Rapids Sub
I'm sure this has been discussed somewhere on here, but a search isn't turning anything up. What's traffic like between Detroit & GR, how many trains a day do the full route? vs how busy the line is east of Plymouth?

Re: New Hollow Yard, Lansing
What are the names/uses for the four CN tracks in this area?
I'm guessing the southern-most track is CN's main, the one north is the Thoroughfare, and then the other two are like passing sidings or something?
