Just going to chime in briefly on this topic with what went on in the Charlotte area when the line was abandoned and the idea of a recreation trail surfaced here. Most folks that had property ajoining the ROW "feared an invasion that would bring crime from the big cities" as I remember and fought it...

Just heard the horn for the crossings. The Dinner Train is backing down into the loading area awaiting its noon departure for today. Scheduled to be out on the line from Noon to 2:30 for those who can make it for daytime photography.
