Re: Derailment in Mancelona
EJIW transloads coke from Cadillac so they don't get any traffic around Elmira other than possibly a few carloads of equipment. Cement numbers seem below the 20-40 per week projections (that's a shocker isn't it :P ) with the exception of last year when the plywood plant in Grayling was under const...

I’ve also heard Cadillac crews refer to that as the Belt Line. It makes sense.KC wrote:Unknown District 225.9 - 226.3
Have heard this called the BELT LINE before. Section between Selma and Tufford yards.

GLC passed through Alma College at 9:50am. Assuming northbound. My spotter only hears them.

Re: Help with official GLC designations
AARR, thanks. I never saw mileposts in the grawn line when I was there so I wasn’t sure, but it made sense.
Am I correct to assume the St Charles District is the Oakley Branch?

Re: Help with official GLC designations
Thanks for the great info! I didn’t realize the Cadillac District began at Owosso. I always thought Clare separated districts—probably because of how I’ve seen the Caddy/Owosso trains function. It’s good to know why I was wrong. Does the Grawn Branch have a name or is that part of the TC District? I...

Help with official GLC designations
Hi all! I’m working on a systemwide GLC video and wondered if anyone could help identify each portion of the line, or branch, as they are referred to today? I use terms like “Middleton Branch”, “Oakley Branch”, “Yuma Line”, etc but I don’t actually know if any of these are official GLC designations....

On both Friday afternoon and Monday night, 3 covered hoppers spotted at Mancelona. The 3rd hopper was delivered Friday around lunch time-Look for my chase video documenting the entire day this evening. Lots of great shots, big train both ways, switching action, crossing the Manistee, and 392 leadin...

Re: Great Lakes Central Updates: September 2019
A train passed through Alma last night at 10pm, direction uncertain, according to a reliable source.
I wonder if this means track work still has the Owosso/Clare Turn running at night?

Re: New Bridge Over Manistee River
I'm glad I had the opportunity to film a 23 car train crossing the bridge on 9/18/19. With the structures future uncertain, it might be a good idea to take the drone up and try for a few more shots.

Re: Great Lakes Central Updates: May 2019
Part 2, this time in the right thread! With welded rail being put in between Rosebush and Clare, there is a curfew out between Mt. Pleasant and Clare pushing ONTN to a night turn. ONTN was northbound through Alma after making a setout for the MMRR in N. End Wright Siding last night at 23:04. Thanks...

Thanks for that info HESR3868. Running on the MMRR would have been an incredible move to document on that gorgeous day.

I wish. I've only seen that run once in my life--and I had me camera equipment handy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2CJ3XpL8eUMQT1223 wrote:Anyone know when a train to Middleton is due?
It's my hope to one day capture it with the drone.

Re: Great Lakes Central Updates: March 2019
395 and 390 through Temple towards Clare at 1335 with 33 cars. Nice to see a GP35. Hopefully not on its way to a deadline! Sounded like it was still earning its keep today, though. I believe 390 and 392 are still active and seeing action while 385 and 393 have issues that pretty much sideline them....

Wyoming Warehouse LLC based out of Nunica MI. Lately there have been blocks of 4-6 covered hoppers inside the facility, incuding a couple loads of cottonseed in tarped hoppers. Address is 103 10th St. Thank you Mark! I would really like to try to incorporate that facility on my layout (and the plac...

Another block of feed cars. At this rate they'll be well above the 300 they projected when the 2nd spur was being built. Returned to Cadillac at 1530. Sequential numbering this afternoon. Left before 0930. I believe they went north to Petoskey yesterday. Do those feed hoppers terminate at the facil...
