NS New Signals on Chicago Line
Heading home from work this last week I noticed work being done on replacing signals on the Chicago Line, behind my job in Archbold, Ohio. I saw one new set of signals already up but not activated. The crews were also assembling an overhead set of signals. On fri I drove from Archbold to Bryan on my...

Re: Napoleon, Defiance and Western: The First Year
I caught a westbound Fri evening at the Route 127 crossing. One engine and two boxcars. Today I noticed the string of cars sitting on the main and two cars sitting on the LaFarge track.

Re: Napoleon, Defiance and Western: The First Year
Does anyone have any idea on what might be going on along the ND&W just east of Cecil? It looks like they have excavated the ground and then laid stone down and used a roller to pack it down. Could it be some track going in? I got a couple of pics to show if I can get them to upload. Not the best pi...

Re: Napoleon, Defiance and Western: The Beginning
It looks like the NDW has been working on clearing back the weeds and the brush on the Cecil to Defiance section.

Re: Napoleon, Defiance and Western: The Beginning
I saw 4 work crews working on the ND&W today. 1st crew working on the west side of Napoleon. 2nd crew working by the route 281 crossing in Defiance; 3rd crew working between the spur to Manville and the bridge over the Maumee; and the 4th crew working in Cecil right at the spur to Lafarge.

Defiance/Van Wert rail operations
It sounds like things could get interesting around Defiance and Van Wert in the future. If Pioneer is serious about running trains all the way from Napoleon to fort Wayne, plus the new grain elevator along csx on the west side of defiance. And now I was reading that the VW supersite is moving forwar...

Unusual Move On CSX?
On the way home from work today I saw a BNSF loco pulling 6 maybe 7 older looking locos with the old blue & yellow Santa Fe paint scheme. Anyone have a idea where these might be headed?

Re: Consolidated Barge and Grain
I kind of figured that CSX was putting in a turnout, but I only could catch a glimpse from Dooley Rd, so I really couldn't see anything except for all of the trucks and the MOW equipment.

Consolidated Barge and Grain
It looks like CSX is starting to get some trackwork going in the new grain elevator that is going up west of Defiance, Ohio. I saw quite a few trucks and railroad ties stacked all around the facility today on my way home from work, as well as some MOW equipment. I'm curious how this will look once e...

Is there any plans to put something rail related in the space where that vacant factory was just torn down?

Re: Wapakoneta
I kind of figured that piece of track crossed over 281 at some point in the past. I always have been curious as to how much track exists behind the GM plant, not to mention the tracks that lead to that scrap yard east of the GM plant.

Re: Wapakoneta
That spur kind of reminds me of that piece of track in Defiance that runs from the yard north toward the GM plant, but stops short of RT 281.

Well that makes sense from a future business standpoint. At least it isn't a remmant of an existing spur that's just waiting to get pulled out.

Re: Wapakoneta
I just happened to be in Wapakoneta on Friday and early part of Saturday. I was able to get out and check out the rail activity a little bit on Fri evening. I don't know what was going on as there was a hopper train(not sure if it was empty or not) sitting on the main north of town for what seemed l...
