Re: NS Peavine talk

Certainly good news. Southern Ohio has lost so much industry over the years, it's always good to see some sort of development.

Supposedly the last 381. This I believe is the third 381 to be the last 381, for some background. Still, one of these days, maybe today, it'll be true.

Cincinnati Northern Timetable question.

Would anyone happen to have (and or know the ansewer to my question) the steepest grade (percentage wise) on the long gone Cincinnati Northern?

Or also, what specific Conrail time table I could find this in?

Re: Napoleon, Defiance and Western: The Definitive Thread

Defiance, - Johns Manville (one of two plants in town, not sure if the other gets cars or not) I take it this is the industry between 5th and 3rd street? Google maps doesn't list a name. That small bio-diesel place with the tanks that is adjacent to the yard in Defiance (I think it is bio-diesel?) ...

Re: Potash Yard, Lima Ohio, Update

I know this is off topic. Are you the same CG tower that used to run the "CG tower" website? That had some really good info on it (especially of the Great Miami & Scioto) . It's been down for quite some time.

Re: NS Peavine talk

That's the one thing that will never change in this industry. The furloughs and ups and downs. Hold on as long as you can for as quickly everything changed, just as quickly things pick back up. I hope you can hang on. I have been told (but I haven't seen actual proof) that there was a lawsuit broug...

My buddy works for NS in Atlanta and said they are so top heavy there and so much unproductivity it will blow your mind. In the spring and summer the VPs and there are many are out playing golf and never in the office. If you need something done one needs to leave a text or wait till the next day. ...

Typical. Cutting transportation employees first seems to be the name of the game.

I'm pretty close to facing a layoff because of it.

Re: NS Peavine talk

I would not get your hopes up stone leaving the CCET and going somewhere on NS. Remember NS makes the rates on all traffic on the CCET. The recent substantionsal rate increases NS did to Winchester and Huhtamkai are ugly and a statement of how they control the rates. The only thing CCET can set a r...

There is a potential for the Martin Marietta blasting mine operation may use the CCET to haul their material out to points south and west of Cincinnati. This has been an ongoing fight with Newtown, Indian Hill, Terrace Park and Mariemont for the past three years. These communities don't want blasti...

Re: NS Peavine talk

Now if you think for a second that means reopening the east end just stop. Unfortunately the Peavine is gone. I've talked to guys that ran the line, it was a tough piece of railroad but, right now the biggest issue outside of Vera is that the line has no industry on the east end. The west end may h...

That's exactly the same information everyone else has too. Dickinson will continue as the yard for what's left in Charleston. He's not a credible source by any stretch. He will run with anything you tell him especially if it's Peavine or WV Sec and believe it no matter how outlandish the rumor. Mos...

Everyone seems to think the end of 380/381 is tomorrow. Otherwise everyone else is under the impression line is ...

Trips to Bellevue went from 8-10 hours on average to 11+ and outlawing more than we should. The Sandusky district got turned into a parking lot. I've also seen it drop and change signals with us in the preceding block.
