Re: Yard Radio Traffic On 160.545 MHz
Earlier today, they were talking about "CSX" and mostly "CTX" if this helps anyone ID who this is?

Re: Yard Radio Traffic On 160.545 MHz
Tonight they are coming in again loud and clear. I have determined that the actual frequency they are using is 160.5525, which is in between 160.545 and 160.560 MHz. They are busy putting EOT devices on two different trains right now getting ready to leave the yard. However, they didn't mention what...

Re: Yard Radio Traffic On 160.545 MHz
I was here at home in Ann Arbor. The signal came in loud and clear, then after a while faded out. I suspect it was not from around here in the local area, although the signal was very strong for a while. Also, the repeater had a PL Tone (CTCSS) of 203.5 Hz.

Yard Radio Traffic On 160.545 MHz
Currently, I am listening to some railroad yard activity on 160.545 MHz. They have a repeater in place so you can hear both sides of the conversation. They were just on track 7, placing an EOT device on what will be the last car on the train. Also, they were talking about some cars for Q157 that nee...

Re: Southbound CP Rail Train
Can't see the EXIF information on your picture, but are you sure you didn't see it Thursday the 7th? Ran though plymouth approximately 15:45 as you mentioned as CSX X55104 to Stanley Toledo, then back on Q39208 from Toledo to Detroit, and ran yesterday as Y12208 in the yard in Detroit. X55104 is a ...

Southbound CP Rail Train
This past Wednesday, I was in Plymouth in the Old Village section of town on Starkweather Street. I just happened to catch a southbound CP Rail train at 15:48 hours on Farmer Street that was coming off the wye from Detroit. Does anyone have clue as to what the correct number or symbol would be for t...

Re: NarrowBand Radio Frequency Changes
I understand that Norfolk Southern, will be changing their Lake Division over to narrowband modulation on October 5, 2011. This includes the Detroit Division along the old Wabash mainline. On a related note, Canadian National, will be switching their radios on the old Grand Trunk Western on November...

CSX Location Needed
Back in 1988, I was railfanning with two friends in the Toledo area. We spotted this approaching CSX freight train, and decided to take some photos of it. Does anyone have a clue as to what grade crossing these photos were taken at? On the right side in the first photo, you can see a sign that is th...

Re: CSX Transportation Security Info
Norfolk Southern Railroad Police, have been using Nexedge Digital mode more frequently on their radios lately. This is especially true on 160.560 MHz, in and around the state of Michigan. The Dearborn Dispatcher is usually in the clear, but the mobile radios have been using their digital mode more o...

NS/Wabash Mainline
For the life of me, I can't find my NS Employee timetable anywhere when I need it. Where is milepost 49 located on the old Wabash mainline? I know it's west of Milan, but for the life of me I can't remember where at.

Re: CSX Transportation Security Info
In the future - without a scanner it'd be a total crap shot. Drive somewhere, hope a train comes while perhaps 15min away I'm missing out on something cool because I can't hear it. Michael A friend of mine who is a Ham Radio Operator, and very much into RF fox hunts says that he has a way around th...

This is a photo of a DT&I Caboose in NW Ohio. I seem to remember being around the town of Napoleon when I took this photo. Does anyone know the exact location of this caboose?

Re: CSX Transportation Security Info
Very sadly, there is no scanner currently manufactured that will decode the NEXEDGE (NXDN) digital format. Moreover, you would have to know the encryption key that is being used for voice privacy (scrambling) mode. Federal law states that It is illegal to decode encrypted radio transmissions. Theref...

Re: CSX Locomotive Retirements
Face it, if they were ALCO Centuries, we would all be sad to see them being retired. However, some of those early GE units weren't so bad, but after a few years on the road, riding in a cement mixer would have been more comfortable. However, for those of us who have photos of them, we did our part t...
