Re: Spur on Wabash

Why did NS propose this? I don't see the benefit :? This started in 1972, when GM approached the N&W about serving their two plants at Willow Run. Apparently, GM was less than satisfied their poor quality of service they were receiving from Penn Central at that time. The N&W came in and did a feasi...

Re: Location Identication Needed

In comparing the photos, it does look like Gould Interlocking. Had I of known that it was in Ohio, I would have posted it in the Ohio section. Honestly, I can't remember going there, but having stayed up all night prior to this day, it would only make sense that mind erased it. I want to thank every...

I usually have a great memory. This is one occasion where I am drawing a blank. A sure sign I am becoming more seasoned as the years go by.

If my memory is correct, I believe we drove on both. I believe we went down I-96 towards Detroit.

Re: Location Identication Needed

It's not Forest Lawn. I was looking up that site on the Web and here is what I found:

Re: Location Identication Needed

Could that location be North of Plymouth? It's very possible that this could be someplace in Macomb or Oakland Counties. I remember going here because my friend had a hot tip this tower going to demolished shortly. So we went there to take photos of the layout of the tracks, and the tower for a pot...

Re: Spur on Wabash

According to a few people I know that used to work for the N&W and latter NS, there were plans at one time to extended the Rawsonville Spurr to the old GM Hydra-Matic plant. The N&W and later on NS, approached MDOT about building a bridge over I-94 to extend the line further north so they could conn...

Re: Location Identication Needed

It is not: Penford, Diann, North Yard, Forestlawn..... also not AnnPere... The 2 tracks involved are secondary tracks (based on signals), and it is single track (with siding) crossing single track. Signals are NOT PRR. You said 45-60 minutes from Plymouth. ARE YOU SURE? Any chance you made it as fa...

Re: Location Identication Needed

Do you remember the railroads? That may help. I wish I did. For some reason the Grand Trunk & Western and the C&O also come to mind. However, for the life of me, I had completely forgotten about going to this place, until I found the slides that I shot buried in the closet last week. I have a feeli...

No, its not Pennford. If it was, you would see a lot of the old concrete arches along the old DT&I. For the life of me, I can't remember where this place was.

Re: Location Identication Needed

I am almost positive that it is in Southeast Michigan. I have a feeling that the tower is now gone, and maybe some of the tracks are torn up. For some reason, the Detroit Terminal Railroad comes to mind, but I am not certain that this is their trackage.

If I am not mistaken, the old DT&I bridge in Napoleon that crossed over the Maumee River is still intact?

Indiana & Ohio in Fulton County

Does anyone know what schedule I&O operates over the old DT&I line in the Delta area? Also, how often do they come up into Michigan to Diann to interchange with the Ann Arbor Railroad?

Thanks,

Ron

Location Identication Needed

Back in May of 1988, I went out to shoot photos of the interlocking tower in the Metro Detroit area. Sadly, I can't remember where this location is at. If I post some photos on this board, can anyone here shed some light on where this tower was located? I remember catching a Bluewater NRHS excursion...

NarrowBand Radio Frequency Changes

Norfolk Southern, has been recently modifying their radio licenses in Southern Lower Michigan. They have been adding new frequencies, digital and narrowband modulation designators, which reflects the purchase of new two-way radio equipment. For example, last week, the FCC approved the following lice...
