Re: GR railfans - does this trestle have a name?

Very Nice picture! however this Thornapple River Bridge as noted below is
not a Trestle but a metal riveted warren design "deck truss". Simply it's a truss
bridge, Just an FYI.

Re: CN Flint/Lapeer questions

I agree morning is a good time during the weekdays and weekend. The amtrak station is a good spot and there is a grain elevator to the west of the station which makes for a good backdrop for photos.

thanks for the report t.winx I was curious what the daily traffic is and now I know. I was there briefly in August and caught a few NS East and Westbounds but was wondering about all the work going on there also. New signals were about to be put in when I was there.

Thanks for the report I can't imagine seeing that much UP and BNSF power in one day. I really need experience Rochelle and will try and head out there next year. I guess I need a break from the standard NS and CSX. How are the surrounding towns such as Creston, Malta and Steward for railfanning? I w...

Primary customers are the elevators in South Milford and Reading, and the utility plant in Litchfield that receives 30 cars of coal per week. They have other customers that ship fertilizer, tallow, particle board, plastic, and a few others. Thanks for all the info guys, didn't know about plant in L...

Indiana Northeastern 10-18-08

I caught this GP-30 by suprise while travelling through Fremont, IN. This unit was stationary on the tracks and might do local switching during the week as their were some box cars and hopper near by. Anybody familiar with this short line? are they owned by Rail America? I also saw some more of thes...

Emmett, MI 9-6-08

I had to make a stop in Richmond in the morning so after that I headed up to Emmett to what I could catch on the CN line. Not real busy but here is what I caught. Note: I also included another CN shot that I took while visiting the yard in Pontiac, MI last week. East bound SD70, not sure what that 3...

Here is a brief report from Delray. My friend Brad and I started out the morning at Shaffer yard http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x251/rmmbridge/Trucks/Trains/GT4919.jpg Then it was onto the Rougemere yard for the new CSX switcher, which I know most of you have seen but here is another picture. ht...

Utah Trip 6-8 complete

I was out visiting family in Utah and this was my first time railfanning out west. It was good to get away from the Michigan landscape for a change. Here is what I caught: I had a short drive to the Midvale yard, found these nice Savage uboats, hard to believe there is a freeway like I-275 behind th...
