Conrail Historical Society Rail-BQ July 30th Marion, OH

Unread post by conrailman75 »

Hi guys, the Conrail Historical Society is hosting yet another Rail-BQ this summer, this time at Marion Union Station in Marion, OH on July 30th. This is the second year for this event and we hope to exceed last year's attendance total(which was over 60). Same deal as Elkhart, event is open to non-members and its free to attend! Signing up works the same as Elkhart, just go to our website, http://www.theCRHS.org and click the link for Marion RBQ, fill out the simple form below the event description and click submit and you're done. Here's the details from the website:

The CRHS is returning to Marion, Ohio for another day long Rail-B-Q on Saturday July 30th, 2011. The RBQ will once again be taking place at Marion Union Station, which is surrounded by the CSX ex C&O mainline on the left, the NS ex PRR Sandusky District on the right, and the CSX ex CR Big Four mainline to the north. The depot, restored AC tower, and the Marion Model Railroad Club will be open all day again for your viewing pleasure and we will round out the evening with a very nice slide show.

The event hours this year are the same as last year, sunrise to sunset, which equals out to be approx. 6:30am to 9:30pm.

The society will be grilling food this year, thus putting the "BQ" back into RBQ. If you desire something else, the Shovel restaurant sits on the depot property to the south of the depot facing the NS line. This is a sit down restaurant with a full bar for those that desire something more to eat or drink.

This year's slide show starts at 7pm and features slides from photographers Roger Durfee, Jerry Jordak, Rich Beherendt, Dale DeVene, Terry Chikwak, and Dick Jacobs. This year's event promises to be one not to be missed!

The Conrail Shoppe will be there as well for those of you who want to bring home a few CRHS souvenirs to remind you of your trip to Marion.

Please be sure to RSVP your attendance using the form below and we look forward to meeting you all again at the depot on July 30th!

Well seeing as I now live an hour and a half from Marion, I might have to attend. Can we join CRHS while at the event?

You most certainly can! That's one of the goals of these events, to hopefully attract some new members.

CRHS website is temporarily down

Unread post by conrailman75 »

Just wanted to let everyone know that the CRHS website has temporarily crashed. We hope to have this problem fixed as soon as possible, but for those who wish to come to the Marion RBQ, you can still come without RSVP'ing. I will let you guys know as soon as we have this problem resolved.
