Re: EMDX 1201 ElectroMotive Cat Paint
I've gotta say that's not totally what I imagined, But I like it . I guess it's meant to "match" the other leasors.
Re: EMDX 1201 ElectroMotive Cat Paint
That looks like someone's bad paint scheme for a model railroad.
What happened to just some classic Cat Yellow and some black?
Oh, here's a thought, lets just thrown some random scotch light stripes on the side? Silver trucks, why not! We've got Silver Trucks, we need a Silver nose now!
There is no 'flow' to the paint. Yeesh that thing is hideous.

Looks like the regular EMD paint scheme with yellow instead of blue.

Re: EMDX 1201 ElectroMotive Cat Paint
Will EMD ever outsell GE again? EMD still seems to have a better marketing program but GE continue to dominate sales by 2 to 1 or better.
PatC created a monster, 'cause nobody wants to see Don Simon no more they want AARR I'm chopped liver, well if you want AARR this is what I'll give ya, bad humor mixed with irrelevant info that'll make you roll your eyes quicker than a ~Z~ banhammer...
Re: EMDX 1201 ElectroMotive Cat Paint
GE in the past had offered better financing terms through GE Capital. Perhaps with Progress at the helm of EMD, they can improve. Though, I generally think the railroads had been unimpressed with the SD70ACe's performance and they tended to be 'shop queens'.AARR wrote:Will EMD ever outsell GE again? For a leasing scheme, I'd say it's pretty good. Far better than HLCX or even RA for that matter.TrainWatcher wrote:Well 1202-1205 were just delivered to Chattanooga, TN via NS... not really sure I am a fan of the new scheme:

Those EMDX SD70Aces are going to the Alabama and Tennesee River Railroad.TrainWatcher wrote:Well 1202-1205 were just delivered to Chattanooga, TN via NS... not really sure I am a fan of the new scheme:

I don't know about you guys but I think this Demonstrator scheme looks a little better. I'm not to fond of all of these newer designs for/on locomotives...

Is this the "New Look" for Electro-Motive?! It sure looks more like Caterpillar now! Too bad they bought them; it's not horrible looking though!!!!

Its just a special paint scheme. I'm pretty sure it has a Caterpillar engine in it.

This one was painted up for MINEXPO in Vegas which just started if memory serves me right. Its purpose it to showcase the latest and greatest in mining equipment, and it gives an excuse for the guys in the mining industry to go to vegas to party for a few days.

That's cool! The more variety—the better!!!! I love the various Blue/Silver/Black schemes! EMD has used some variation of "Blue" for years!

Re: Picture of EMDX 1201 Unwrapped
There is no Cat engine in it unless you now consider EMD engines cat engines. Just a typical display for a trade show.
Cat has always wanted EMD's engines, now they have them.

Re: Picture of EMDX 1201 Unwrapped
Brent is right. Cat's engines in locomotives of any appreciable size have always been dismal failures. Now that they have EMD's tried and true 710 they won't need to create abominations like SDCAT's anymore.
