Re: EMDX 1201 ElectroMotive Cat Paint
Mine expo and Con Expo (Construction Expo) are supposedly some of the biggest parties out there convention wise...think about it, after work every day you go to the watering hole and drink. Me and my buddy were supposed to go to Con Expo last year but my job got in the way. The stories that I have heard about them shows.....

God I hope they keep the engines suede gray.. I really don't want to see yellow 710s. I have seen pink (yes, pink),blue, red, green 567/645's..just, not yellow. Keep yellow on the Clackerpillars (I have seen a yellow Enterprise though.)

Cat really doesnt want the engines, Cat wants the electric drive components for their large mining equipment. This is where it seems the desire for the acquisition of the EMD has come into play.MagnumForce wrote:There is no Cat engine in it unless you now consider EMD engines cat engines. Just a typical display for a trade show.
Cat has always wanted EMD's engines, now they have them.

What do you think it cost them to move the engine to the convention hall? $25000 maybe?

After watching this, I'm kinda in love with that paint scheme. Shiny
Pretty neat how they moved it. Right down the blvd too.

Very interesting, can't help but notice the placard between the numberboards, and am wondering if the nose mounted light is optional or if you could work it into a overhead cab light like on many of the Conrail C40-8W's.

AARR, I bet you are not even close. 3 big truck cranes, 2 at the tracks, 3 inside the hall, a goldhofer modular transporter, all are not cheap to rent.AARR wrote:What do you think it cost them to move the engine to the convention hall? $25000 maybe?

Interesting, in that Cat uses the mechanical drive on the 797 trucks as a sell point (my previous employer developed and makes the driveshafts for those trucks). I don't know if the market has accepted the mechanical drive on the cat compared to competitors though.

Caught this unit on 055 today in Hiram, GA, and it looks even better IRL than in pictures.
