Of the above report is true, it is active units. The 2621 and 2809 are not listed as being in storage...
The 2621, if confirmed, would be the end of the 2600 series as far as YN2 is concerned...

So, if you're a CSX '80MAC fan, you should probably try to get shots now...
...because, preliminary reports are, and I stress this is so far unofficial, CSX and NS are looking to do a trade. CSX's '80MACs to NS, and twice that number of NS SD40-2s to CSX.
Again, not officially announced yet, so it could be false, but it sounds like CSX could be losing their '80s in the near future.

I don't think NS would trade the SD40s they keep buying for some POS SD80s. The reason the NS ones work okay is because they keep them around the old Conrail shops where there are people who know how to properly maintain them, whereas CSX more or less let them roam free and gave it maintenence like any old locomotive.

I'll never understand the infatuation with the SD80MAC's, especially compared to their SD45/F45 ancestors.

We're actually up to the 2008 now, making 9, the last two just haven't left Huntington yet.
All the details on those coming up in a few days with the monthly update...

CSX has shipped out a batch of SD40-2s that have been stored in Huntington for Boise, Idaho for rebuilding to SD40-3s. Numbers are unknown (some are, most aren't) and not sure when the units will be rebuilt. Should go into the 4050 and up...

In the news:
-YN3B roster has reached 500 units. Now over 11% of the roster, quickly approaching the YN2 total
-CSX plans to place orders for 75 Tier 3 GEVOs, and 225 Tier 4 GEVOs over the next three years.
That is of course in addition to the SD80MAC news, which was not just a "foamtard" prediction.

The ones in service are still out running around so when is the transfer of ownership supposed to take place?

January 1 with NS taking over lease of the units is the word on the street. But take it with a grain of salt until confirmed.

So, an original 20 year lease I assume? So engines coming off lease not a "trade" then?
