HEY!

I can make it after all. My moving date has been set back to May 28th.

Don,

Please tell Mrs Simon that some goodies from her bakery would be sincerely appreciated by all. :)

David Lang wrote:Regarding the food - Those of you that can bring a package of hotdogs and buns, do so. Please don't feel you have to bring anything, this is only if you want to. I'll pick up some dogs and buns on the way up, so we will only need a few others to get some more of that. We will also need charcoal, lighter fluid, etc. Others may want to bring some chips, cookies, etc. We can keep it simple if the group wants, but whatever you all want to bring. Last year I burned the burgers b/c the railfan grill is shallow. If we just have hotdogs, all I need is a plastic fork to turn them. Water/pop is up to the group. There is water in the depot but whatever everyone wants to do. I think that is about it.

I am looking forward to seeing all of you again, as well as meeting new people. So far the forecast is calling for sun and 70s, which will be perfect!!!!

There's a nice grocery store right around the corner across the tracks. No one needs to bring hot dogs and buns etc from home. Home made sweet treats should be brought from AARR's house. If you need a cheap burger turner, the store has those too. There was a set of BBQ tools with the grill a couple years ago.

The order for chocolate kookies and brownies is placed. She is working through a few back orders but thinks she can fit it in. I will be turning on the charm to encourage her

The way things are in Durand, you'll probably see more in that time frame than the rest of the folks will see staying there the remainder of the day. The middle of the day out there can be painfully slow sometimes.

Because I'm slightly out of my mind I'm getting there tomorrow (Friday) at
sun-up and sticking around till Saturday evening. I'll tell you all what you
missed. :P I'll be the one with too many cameras looking slightly sleep
deprived.
I haven't lost my mind, it's on tape backup here somewhere...

I believe I can actually make this event this time. I'll be traveling light, though, as I had recent knee surgery, so I won't be bringing my Coleman table & stove, nor the infamous "Danger men Cooking" sign. I will bring some meat for the grill (probably some Polish sausages) and buns. I can also bring some tongs and a spatula if they're needed.

COOL! I'm not the only one with "too many cameras!" I'll be the guy using just film cameras (both 35mm and 120 medium format)! I'll say this: "You can never have too many cameras!"

DURAND LESS THAN 24 HOURS NOW!!!!

NO THAT IS NOT ME!!!!

I'm a goofy 27 year old guy! He looks a tad older than me! I do however have a few Canon® AE-1™ cameras
(like one of his)! He also has an EOS™ camera (could be a film one) and some other kind!
I know I saw this picture before, but where?

I'll say "So long until the Meet!"

A good time was had by all. Not a lot of trains, but lots of good discussion and information sharing. I had to go on a bike ride to break the dead spell, but then we got 3 within about an hour just as I got back - an EB and WB, then GLC went south with a couple of cars to do repairs on a small washout. A bit later, the Flint local arrived and backed into the yard (with a GP 38 - #4903 - sorry Don, you missed it by a half hour :? ).

Thanks, David, for organizing this again. There was group shot, hopefully it will get posted soon.

A GREAT TIME WITH FELLOW RAILFANS AT DURAND!!!!!

Unread post by Robertrains »

  :) :D

YOU BETCHA!!!!!!!!!

The train reports are correct (I counted 7 including GLC--totaling 10 movements from 10 a.m.--4 p.m. ish)!!!!
Now I've seen Grand Trunk every time at Durand since my 1st visit, 4-1993 (I go every year)! GTW GP38-2 #4903 counts for me (even if in CN paint---who cares?---it's still Grand Trunk)! On the way home I passed by the Bristol yard in Flint; GTW GP9R #4623 was there (if noone knows yet---GTW is my favorite)! Am I thankful for the washout on GLC (nobody was hurt I think) since they ran that "Ballast Extra!" COOL!!!!
I'll post my group photos (120 medium format) after they are developed!

Thanx again for a nice meet! So Long Until next year (or Fall maybe)!!!!
