Seeing as Waycross is the system heavy repair shop for GE's...and they're putting stickers on the stuff Waycross is putting out...odds probably aren't in your favor.

CSX #366 has Chessie Stickers on her nose.

I know that obviously these units are getting negative views due to the lack of effort for showing heritage, but this to me is an interesting sight as to what CSX considers "Heritage".

We have L&N, C&O, SCL, and now Chessie; there are six more units suppose to come out with stickers if I remember correctly. I'm gonna say that B&O and WM are definitely in due to the Chessie heritage. How far down the line do you go? Does PM have a sticker, does Clinchfield have a sticker? Does Family Lines have a sticker? Do you avoid something as recent as the RF&P, merged in the 1990's? Do you include a road that you've practically abandoned out of existence like the Monon? Where is "Heritage" drawn?

If you think the CSX "Heritage" units are crap leaving out the B&O is one mistake the company couldn't live down. The first railroad in the US a part of your heritage and you ignore it? Right...

iKJames, "at least 10". That opens the doors quite a bit. I guess it depends on which fallen flags make the most money for CSX. This could add the RF&P, C&EI, ACL, SAL, NC&StL, Monon, Georgia, Clinchfield, Family Lines, PM and P&LE. Of course you throw in Conrail and all of those roads, but I believe NS holds the rights for those. Some of these railroads like the NC&Stl and the PM are not modeled very much and have a good chance of not seeing a sticker on a unit. Others however are modeled quite a bit. I would say at least 10 but no more then 15 "Heritage" units.

I'd speculate the line to be right about where the PM is...regional carrier that was a HUGE addition to the C&O - but then the C&O is less than a third of the CSX system. Anything smaller is likely out.

But again, we shall see.

Monon hasn't been 'practically abandoned out of existence'. Still in place from the connection on the GTW at Dyer, to Monon. Portion east of Monon is up for abandonment to the end of track, but last I heard it was stalled as a shipper was throwing a fit. Line is in from Medaryville, IN to Cloverdale, IN. Yeah, its gone from Cloverdale south, but still a healthy chunk remains. Still technically in from Bedford to New Albany, but hasn't seen a train in years, and CSX has been given permission to pull the sidings, suspend the signal system, etc. Either way, given the overall historical length of the line, and how redundant it has been since the mergers started, 30 to 40% of its original length probably remains?

Well if one wants to look at it, a significant length of the Pere Marquette has been abandoned. Midland-Baldwin, most of the tracks north of Baldwin/Manistee, north of Muskegon, the branch from New Buffalo, the line from Elmdale to Saginaw, and even more in the thumb. Add in the hundreds of miles spun off to shortlines, and really the CSX only operates a small fraction of what was once the Pere Marquette.

Really, the Detroit and Plymouth Subs are 150 miles, GRS/GRT are 140, Fremont is 10 and the Saginaw Sub is 100. That's only 400 miles under CSX. That's only about half the remaining PM trackage.

Amazing may be an understatement of great proportion.

BTW MQT1223, you have very few rights on this board. Membership is a privilege. Much like driving an automobile in the State of Michigan.

We had to memorize the amendments, and draw a random number out of a hat and tell the teacher. I guess they don't require that kind of learning any more...
