IIRC CSX went to narrow band in April.

What are all the old railroad frequencies?

And what are all the new ones going to be?

Frequencies are the same, we can still hear them on our scanners, the transmitions just come in a lot quiter. It's when they go to digital is when railfan's will be screwed.

so what you are saying is the railroads arent going low band at a lower frequency they are going digital?

Lets look at this using the CSXT road CH. 0808 or 160.23mhz

Instead of using 25khz of spectrum for each channel (160.2175 to160.2425) , the initial plan is to narrow that useage down to 12khz per ch. Basically what that step does, is it takes the regular analog signal, and only uses half as much space (160.22375 to 160.23625) When they do go digital, (when a standard is adopted right now Motorola, kenwood, icom etc all have their own specs and none play nice with another) the carrier frequency (162.230mhz per this example) will still be the same, how ever the sound waves will be digital, (160.2275 to 160.2331).

I don't think CSX has gone narrow yet, or at least my perception of their audio strength is the exact same as it was wide band modulation...
