It is quite an achievement, IMO, that they can get all 20 engines together on the same days. I am not sure if the average railfan thinks about how difficult this is :?
PatC created a monster, 'cause nobody wants to see Don Simon no more they want AARR I'm chopped liver, well if you want AARR this is what I'll give ya, bad humor mixed with irrelevant info that'll make you roll your eyes quicker than a ~Z~ banhammer...

Ironically, I have the time off of work that week, so I could conceivably go to the big event.

However, as cool as it is, I'm not convinced that seeing all of the heritage units in one place would be as special as seeing one or more trackside. Catching them in service with non-heritage units in the mix has more appeal to me personally than does driving several thousands of miles to see them all in once place, let alone all of the foam-fest nonsense that's been covered at length in another thread.

That being said, I hope your trip to NC goes well, legostudios34, and that your once-in-a-lifetime experience is something you'll treasure for the rest of your life.

I know they will get all 20 there, but Muncie has played it close.

I am staying far, far, far, far, far, far, far far, far, far, far, far, far, far far, far, far, far, far, far, far away from there. I have friends and even family that are going, but I'm just not interested. I figured that would be a good two days to get other railfanning in since everybody will be in Specner!

GRHC - you know every night I can imagine he is in front of his computer screen sitting in his underwear swearing profusely and drinking Blatz beer combing the RailRoadFan website for grammatical errors.

 I've finally found a way there! I'll be flying in with sister, staying 2 nights and flying back! I'll be there the 4th and will attend the "Night Photo Session" that night! I've always wanted to go to the NCTM and see their stuff; might as well go to "Foam Fest 2012!" Maybe there will be some fireworks while shooting Time-exposures! I'm sure there will be a lot of chances after this to see the Heritage Locos trackside!

THANX!!!! The camera I'll be using is a Mamiya RB67 Medium Format! It's 6X7 cm negs; the best camera I've ever used—All Manual! The film I'll have scanned to CD when developed! In the days after I come back, I plan to upload images and share! This sould work well! There's only 2 more "Heritage Locos" for EMD to paint (as of 6-25)!

For those of you going down to see the foam...

I was told last night that down near the Kentucky/Tennessee border they have southbound I-75 down to one lane for a few miles, which means slow traffic. I was planning to head that way to Florida but I think I-77 looks a lot better  Just thought I'd give a heads up....
