RRFan Fall Meet 2012 - Deshler/Butler Sept 29-30

To combine thoughts on some of the previous meets, we're going to have the fall meet this year in Deshler Ohio and Butler Indiana. Meetup is Saturday Sept 29th in Deshler, with an overnight stay for those who want to camp in town. Get up early(your definition of early), railfan our way west, and arrive in Butler Indiana by 11am(only 65 miles northwest of Deshler.) Stay at Butler throughout the day, and head home in the evening. Feel free to come and go throughout the meet times, go to Butler early/late if you'd like, but just giving a general gist of what most will be doing.

Remember to make plans to carpool with others if wanted, and let me know any questions you may have. No voting this time around as my schedule is very limited, and since we did a Durand meet, said we'd do Ohio next. Wanted to hit up some NS/CP traffic this time around too.

I'm planning to carpool down with Trussell Sr and Jr, arriving Deshler late Friday night.

Timing-wise for me, I might come to Deshler early Sunday a.m. and go west to Butler for the rest of Sunday, then north for a Monday meeting I have in Grand Rapids. Could be fun...

Most of you will go right past my house to get between the two. The route I would recommend 18 all the way to Defiance and then County Road 424 to The Bend Road up to 18 again and then 18 all the way to Hicksville, once to Hicksville take 49 north to Edgerton and then 6 to Butler. This is the Maximum line following route as you follow CSX all the way to Hicksville, can even check out the MAW power in Defiance and then follow the Chicago line right on into Butler.

A trip to County Road 75 over CSX just across the Indiana-Ohio State line west of Hicksville would be advised as well as the Bridge is coming out and the road will be closed. A real shame as this is an amazing location.

Should have figured that even though there was no voting this time to have people cause drama about, that some of you would find a way. Cleaned up the posts... if you have something negative to say about the meets, can it. It's a free meet with volunteers that set up the logistics of getting people together, not some paid event. Back on topic please.

FWIW Zack, this executive decision process is a hell of a lot better then any previous even that has been up for a vote, way less drama. Kudos

Should be out Saturday afternoon, unless an act of God gets me out of work until 3:00. Look for me for sure to show up around 5:00. Might make trip to Butler, but not 100% sure yet.

LSRC, I'm having tsinoms ride with me from GR to Coldwater, picking up rsinoms there and heading to Deshler Friday night, coming back to GR late Sunday evening. Not sure who else from GR is going, haven't heard any confirmations.

Those doing both days- where are you staying? In your car(s) or in a hotel? If taking the hotel route, which town are you staying in?

Reason I ask is, I'm not up to spending the night in my car and can't decide where to book a hotel- Auburn, Defiance or somewhere else.
