Deshler OH Railfan Gathering

Unread post by Y@ »

OK, why not try this again? I'm setting up a railfan gathering in Deshler for the weekend of August 2nd & 3rd. If you want to come, just reply and say so. If you want more info, this thread is VERY helpful: http://www.railroadfan.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=8905

I will say that Deshler is a very entertaining place from sunrise to around 1 p.m. Lots of movements around the wyes, which makes for some good photo's, including shots from across the city resovoir, like this one: http://railroadfan.com/gallery/displayi ... pos=-49197, as well as shots from the surrounding open lots. As I've stated MANY times, contrary to popular belief, there are many good shooting spots around town.

Come on guys, I know you want to! 8)

Hmmm... Looks like I've been all around there without actually going there.
I'm up for it. Though it will depend on how stimulating my stimulus check is.
I haven't lost my mind, it's on tape backup here somewhere...

Don't know if I'll be able to make it, much less if I really want to go to Deshler. I've heard the photo angles there suck.

Just for argument's sake, what if I show up without a definitive reply to the thread?? Will I get kicked out??

Deshler sounds cool but no can do. No Car. No Gas. No Chance.
This is my life. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

If this is a problem get used to it.

You should probably count me out, Y@. It's not that I don't want to railfan Deshler, but the trip to Butler a couple weeks ago was almost too much for me (almost fell asleep a couple times on the way home after dropping Gregg off). I don't think I could pull another trip like that this summer.

Honestly, when I saw your original post, I just wanted to ask what would happen if someone showed up without having first posted on the thread...

Want a good example of how busy it is?http://www.railroadfan.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=9103

This was from 9:30 a.m. to about 6:30-7 p.m. Can be alot busier too when the intermodal parade kicks in around 6. That usually brings along some of the traffic from the north heading for the south or the west as well.

Photo angles? If you don't believe me that they rock, just ask Scott!

And if you're a person who doesn't take pictures, Deshler is a great place to just sit and watch, trust me.

How heavy is the rail activity in Deshler on Monday's? It seems to be the only day of the week I will have a realistic shot of getting away all day. I might trying heading down there in the next few weeks.
