The Layout Has Begun!

Unread post by Racer »

My N-Scale layout has begun! I finally got my spare-room cleared out and got some help getting my tables and wood boards in the room. I ordered my track for my layout today. I am using KATO Unit-Track system which looks nice with the pre-made roadbed and pre-wired switches. My layout will but themed of "Main-line running from yard-to-yard and doing yard switching and train assembeling." The layout will have two lines with an active diamond consisting of a "Loop" line and a point-to-point line and one major yard where the two lines interchange and a minor yard for the 2nd railroad. The layout is inspired by Walbridge, Ohio, Holly, Pontiac, and scenary of the Plymouth area. Here's a shot of the room and layout set-up as of today. I will post a map of the layout's track-work.

Looks good so far Chris. Are you going to do anything about that wall color as far as a backdrop goes? I'm not sure how realistic a pinkish tan (taupe?) sky will be for your layout 99% of the time...

And feel free to post more photos as you make progress with the layout. Some of us enjoy the progress photos...

I wanted to do HO, but I'd need to use the entire room to do what I wanted with HO. With N scale I can do it and yet easily remove with only 1 large table and a small shelf. Also, N scale is better for me because I have a huge box of CSX and Conrail locos/ rollingstock. :D

Of course I will Justin! I currently ordered my KATO Unit Track at my local hobby shop and I should be getting it by the end of the week.

MIKE SAID WOOD!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA :D :D :D :D :P
Rule #1: BerkshireKid is God. Rule #2: God is always right. Rule #3: If you think you may actually be right refer to Rules #1 & #2.

Don't worry James. The layout's theme is actually CSX though-out Michigan. Some areas make different scenes. The diamond will be themed after Holly, one straight section will be themed like the "Third Rail" in Livonia, one yard will be themed like Rougemere, the other will be themed like Walbridge, and then farmland like Monroe County! :D :D

Well, I only appreciate CN only on GTW territory. Outside of GTW, I don't like CN either!
