yes!!..the Big Mike as its known has put many many "miles" on the books and still going strong.....the consol has done a little yard shuffling when its busy...ended up having some bad/bent valve gear so....i removed it...runs fine now but doesnt "look" good....and right now as long as it can kick cars around im happy!!

Re: Kalamazoo & Lansing
some things are new and exciting....
after thinking about my operations ive decided (with CFO approval of course) 2 expansions are needed....which ment moving the table...moved 24" and it freed up this space which will be a 1'x4' extension for "Lansing" which for now will be staging/storage but eventualy be sceniced
and at the other end the area over the yard panel and under the whiteboard to the coat rack will be "downtown" Kalamazoo with some industries and a psuedo "Union Station" and a 10" curved thru-truss bridge
lumber was purchased...hope to be sawing this weekend...

Re: Kalamazoo & Lansing
well the Lansing Extension is in the works...
cantilevered off the original L girders..
scabbed a box of 1x3's
and cookie cutter the top...theres a 2x4 leg on the over hang..may be excessive but i didnt want a bunch of braces..
using scrap track for 1" to the ft track planning heres a rough sketch of the track work...the piece in the lower center represents the walthers 120' turntable
and as expected not being able to wait for the track to be bought heres a "temp" Lansing yard with the first train leaving
plan is for a low backdrop between the old and new areas and limited scenery in Lansing as it is just staging/storage

Looks good Gov. Get as much done as you can before it gets warm and you are too busy to do any work on it.
PatC created a monster, 'cause nobody wants to see Don Simon no more they want AARR I'm chopped liver, well if you want AARR this is what I'll give ya, bad humor mixed with irrelevant info that'll make you roll your eyes quicker than a ~Z~ banhammer...
Re: Kalamazoo & Lansing

Re: Kalamazoo & Lansing
miss me?
been busy all summer but the last month been modeling
filled out my passenger schedule with a MP 4-6-2 and an Arnold 3 car Pullman set
The Gull is now a real train lol
scratchbuilt an ash hoist from junk-box parts
next was a kitbash of Walthers Water Street freight Terminal into the SpeedQueen Washing Machine Co.
making room for the new building
be fleshing out the detals on SpeedQueen over the next little bit....
also in a serious break in tradition...the K&L has purchased a DIESEL!!!
waiting on delievery of an Atlas VO-1000 in PRR colors......

Re: Kalamazoo & Lansing
Dateline Enfield: The night yard job at Enfield , known localy as the "Fruit Loop", arrived to work on the evening of the 5th to the news that their regular engine 0-8-0 #18 had been transfered to Richland for the grain rush and in its place a leased PRR engine....a Diesel locomotive. Locals are shocked.
ive been lightly keeping an eye open for this engine...or an Arnold S-1 in PRR...saw this on da-bay and took a stabb with a 30 dollar bid... its a 1st run so it has that terrible loud noise (just like a Diesel ) but it pulls great and runs realy smooth..
Atlas V0-1000 in PRR working the teamtrack in Parchment
and sitting at the Enfield enginehouse

Re: Kalamazoo & Lansing
well this has to be one the worst jobs ive encountered in 20 years in N scale model railroading......attaching the factory handrails and grab irons to an early run Atlas VO....in the end i just CA'ed them in place...
