What scale do you model?

I find it hard to to tell what scale some of the layouts are. I am in N, anyone else?

I used to do 3-rail O scale with my grandpa, then he moved to a new house; donated the layout, and now all my trains are in boxes. I've done V scale for quite a few years now. Now I do N scale; love the fact I can fit alot of action in a small space and love my small Michgan-themed layout very much , but I do V scale from time-to-time, I'm now more of a V scale operator than creator.

HO Scale, no particular theme. Love HO and have had it ever since I started collecting trains. To me it is the best and most convienent scale.

At Home I model in N scale. But I still have all of my HO equipment, when I get the space to build my dream layout, I'll go back to HO

l like the idea of doing Michigan themed layout, in modules, seems simpler to me. I have thought of a Midland module with 3 lumber yards( 2 NYC and 1 C&O) , 2 grain elevators(one on each road), Dow(served by both roads), and Fisher Sand & Gravel(NYC). Then connect Auburn(elevator and lumber yard). Freeland, another elevator. Dow plant had coal fired powerhouses at one time in addition to all their chemical traffic. It seems easier to me to model something familiar than to imagine something. Maybe I will revive my interest by doing one of those modules.

I'm into N scale. I like being able to have so much equipment in such a small area. I'm also really starting to enjoy how easily N scale trains can be dwarfed by the scenery.

HO scale. Larger scales take up too much room; my eyes can't see details of smaller scales.

I don't have a layout or collection of my own. Working for the railroad the last thing I wanted to do was play trains when I got home. Sold most of my personal collection about 3 years ago to finance a move.

This past fall I bought up Cooper and Oshtemo Locomotive Works from Ken Haan. So I quickly was thrust back into HO Scale. I've recently had the opportunity to paint some O-scale items. A pair of Brass Proto 48 cars (They are AWESOME) and an Atlas Plastic 40' Box in GTW. I like the size, its easier to work with, and Atlas is really raising the bar with their plastic cars.

Right now I model a hobby shop in 1:1 scale. Maybe someday I will have a HO one.

I have O stuff. I am working on Great Lakes area ideas. I have a lot of DMIR stuff. I would love to run from Duluth to steel mills at the southern end of the lakes and include some grain operations. Maybe some connections to the eastern Great Lakes with NYC and CSX. I would also include some passenger stuff to the Mackinac area. It is all a dream until my wife cleans out the spare room.

I am probably in the minority here but I have never modeled. Railroad photography is my passion these days.
