Hey Folks,

I was curious, even though I have quite a big layout in my basement, I still run some "mighty big" trains on my computer. I love the steam era, but do quite a bit of the modern age as well. I have posted as few shots in the photo gallery, but have seen no comments. Do any of you model in MSTS?

I don't but I think you'll find there's a few others here that do.

I used to play MSTS all the time, I had lots of add on routes and rolling stock that made it pretty interesting. Haven't gotten around to installing it yet on this computer.

I use Auran Trainz, Its not too bad. I also like MSTS however its a pain to load new locomotives and rolling stock...

I run MSTS on my Plasma off the laptop i dont model i just have a crap load of rolling stock and routes my fav is the Marion route

Trainz 2010: Engineers Edition was released via digital download Sunday and can order the CD online next week. This game needs a really new computer to run well, but it's a great game. The main reason is because the game includes MY FOUR MICHIGAN ROUTES right out of the box! The CN Holly Sub from Durand to Detroit, CSX Saginaw Sub from Flint to Carleton, Detroit Connecting Railroad in Detroit, and the Conrail Lincoln Secondary from Carleton to Lincoln Park. This includes scenarios, locos and rollingstock from many Class 1 railroads in Michigan and shortlines, too! You can also build routes VERY easily and download tons of content easily, too!

Trainz 2006 here. I have used MSTS, but it is a pain to custom build routes and Trainz is much easier. PM Almont, PM Ludington to Baldwin, Romeo Sub, Flint, and Mt. Clemens are all lines I have done. I also have used it with some success making model routes too.

Facinating too is the computer aided design (CAD) programs. I use Xtrakcad for my layout designs.

Depending on what you mean by Modeling on the computer there are different programs to fit the need, I prefer MSTS because its a lot more realistic than Trainz. But Trainz is nice because of the ease of use. I prefer actual modeling or the real thing to the computer. I like to have my hands on it
