Either have a chance?

Unread post by msurailfan »

Hey guys. I went out and took some pics with my new camera today (thank you, insurance company) and want to get your opinion on a couple pictures before submitting them. I think I missed "the moment" with these two trains, but figured one of them might be ok to get through. Story is: one train headed into the Saginaw wye, one train headed out. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks.

They're cropped way too narrow......

Even if you made the cropping better, neither will make it. High sun, along with half nose light.

Can't make them any wider, that's the full picture.

So even if I played with the lighting and make the full nose visible, no dice?

Also, this got rejected for bad cropping.....too much sky? Crop left side? Thoughts?

And yes, I know most of the information is wrong. IDK what happened

That's never the right answer - it comes out looking pretty obviously photoshopped and won't fly on rp.net. You simply can't create sun where there wasn't any by using photoshop. Besides, why waste that much time - just get a better shot somewhere some other time?

But it takes WAY less time creating light than taking another picture  :D

Ok, I meant they're way too short....

The first two shots have no chance. The shot didn't line up as you wanted, and the lighting isn't great either. Skip sending them to RP and have them rejected.

the rejected photo you linked - Why would you almost run the train out of frame on the right, and include all that grass on the left? Not to mention it's leaning oh about 4 degrees clockwise.

Even if you fix the cropping on the latest one you posted, it probably won't make it because you cut off the bottom of the trucks.

I'm thoroughly confused.

I went from a rejection of undersharpened:
http://www.railpictures.net/viewreject. ... =892750101

To a rejection of blurry:
http://www.railpictures.net/viewreject. ... =322782123

I sharpened the second one.

My question is: What?

The second one looks better than the first rejection, but it's still a smidge blurry. Look at the numberboards specifically. Sharpen it again, but expect a reject for obstructing objects next. I'd probably stash this one in the personal folder. This shot isn't worth getting your upload limit sliced.
