Cab signals and no speed limiter? Are these units to be used for freight service on the Northeast Corridor?

Here are the specs on the pre-rebuild SD50/SD50S's:
NS Model Designation SD50
Horsepower 3,500
Fuel Tank Capacity 3,900 gallons
Dynamic Braking Yes
Control Bi-Directional
Cab Signals No
Locomotive Speed Limiter No

I think they added cab signals so that they could be used on any part of the system as leaders.

A little more endangered than that unfortunately:
313 Units left in Conrail Paint. It breaks down like this:
Conrail Can opener units: 83
Conrail Quality Units: 213
Conrail Operation Life-Saver: 2
Conrail Quality SD80MAC Scheme: 2
LMS Blue: 13

No, actually the only area on NS that LSL is required for is the Corridor. I heard that the SD40E's are going to kick the ex-CR SD40-2's out of the Altoona helper pool.

Yea that number was a bit bigger when the GP15-1's were around. Sad to hear about all those Conrail engines. One note though, I dont know if its made it to the museum yet but there is an ex conrail GP38 given a special paint by NS to remember Conrails 25th aniversery. Last I knew it was still at the shops in Altoona. Anyone have any idea? Also how many GP50's are left? I know we had 2 up here recently...
This is my life. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

If this is a problem get used to it.

So NS is rebuilding SD50's into 40E's? They're also converting GP50's into 38's and GP38's into 40's? Do I have correct info? If I do, I'd love to know their reasoning for the odd rebuilds.
PatC created a monster, 'cause nobody wants to see Don Simon no more they want AARR I'm chopped liver, well if you want AARR this is what I'll give ya, bad humor mixed with irrelevant info that'll make you roll your eyes quicker than a ~Z~ banhammer...

Don- You have the right info, I'm not sure as to why they are rebuilding and up and down rating units though.
Tsinoms- There are 50 GP50's left on the roster. Of the original 89 GP50's 37 have been rebuilt to GP38-3's and two have been wrecked.
