Did anyone from this site try to take a picture of it at 1:30pm at the John R underpass in Detroit on Saturday :?: I saw a man driving a silver 4 door get out with a camera and then left a few minutes befor it came.

Here it is in Detroit near the Amtrak Station.

Well, guess I'm not getting any of mine into RP this year, unless they take the one I took at Gaines. You guys were fast!
I caught them at Gaines, East Lansing and Charlotte on my own, and I was with Jim and Aaron for Bellevue and Battle Creek.

Kinda funny - if you search for IC 101 on rp.net practically every shot that comes up that was taken in Michigan over the last few years was by someone on this board! Doesn't matter what's already on, just wait a week or two and upload all yours to avoid the "repetition" issue...

There was a certain time two months ago I was on the Rt 4 bridge in Bellevue with no less than three other rp.net photographers - we all got the shots we wanted into the db, just spread over time.

Just search for rr=NS and keyword=8908 and you'll see what I mean. The ironic thing is even being the third to load it I ended up with the most views. (note that we all got all the same shots but picked three different compositions - the 4th guy didn't bother loading his)

Besides - you & JT already have the two best shots of this train in the rp.net database... :D

Well, Yes I feel like a complete jerk. I was sure I was going to get a bunch of rejects so I just through some stuff at RP and to my shock and amazement they got on.

I am hoping MDH is correct with the wait a week thing. I totally did not mean to under cut anyone. I guess need to hold back on the RP thing next time.

BTW, JT, You ARE the MAN. The shot you got on the cover of the Magazine is the BEST. That is cool.

I've tried that before...it doesn't always work when conditions are adverse like they are today. It's funny, Aaron and I were discussing this at Bellevue - the screeners seem to be a little more lenient about lighting and other issues when the subject matter is rare or special. On the other hand, if you try to upload such pictures later on, they get treated like any other cloudy/common shot submitted. This happened to me with a number of Trainfestival shots, and explains partly why I only have one photo taken during the actual festival in the database.
Having said all that, I'm not trying to downplay Aaron or anyone else, and, as MDH mentioned, I really have no reason to complain, seeing that the shot I took last year is my best personal shot (at least view/perfomance wise) in the database.
Nice shooting everyone! Out of the five years that this train has been running now, I do believe this has been the most well-documented one.

Don't. There were no "me first" discussions regarding these pics, so whoever wants to submit them first, that's fine. There are plenty of trains to shoot in this world to upload to RP. And like MDH said, just wait a while and duplicates aren't a big deal. I have too much of a backlog right now as it is, so it was probably going to be months before I got this one submitted anyway. :)

heh! I took my son to the Flat Rock train museum and lo and behold I caught this guy on the way home...I was heading down Vreeland EB and saw the gates light up so I figured My son and I will watch some typical switching for a few minutes, but lo and behold - E units! I had no idea that that was they day they were in town. I stopped off and took a few cell phone shots but I figured the other FRNs would have much better shots based on their eq. and behavior. (Did I ever look like a gazelle running around in the old days?) ...The crew was really friendly and waved and all. They even invited us onto the train! (just kidding) ....

The snowfall that morning added a nice touch to all of your guys pics ! THanks!
Be swell
