Thanks for the update Chris and Ben. At 15 mph max speed, that would put it into Durand at 4:30pm and Lansing approx 8pm if it doesn't stop for anything.

So I take it that this won't go by Arnold St until around 5 or 6am Wednesday.

I could leave now and probably get to Durand before it does...and I am about 2 hours away.

Train is roughly at CP Flint. Talk is it's on the service track, and a westbound behind it will overtake it before it gets to West Flint.

Well we got all the way up to Durand by almost 4 or so and saw Westbound 397 with 40 cars. Then about 10 minutes later, Eastbound 396 came by with 152 cars - a LOT of gons in this train!

After learning the wide load train (950) was going to wait in Flint for 396 to pass, we went to McDonalds and came back to the depot to eat. We then learned that 950 was going to tie up in Flint, so we went over to try and catch a look but couldn't find it - it was in the yard somewhere. BUMMER! Do they run this train only during the day light? It tied up in Sarnia/Pt. Huron last night, then has tied up in Flint tonight. Just wondering.

Oh well, I got off work early and saw 2 trains. Not bad for the rest of the day.

The train will not run at night. Granted that it sounds like CN wants it to leave after the morning rush... I have a feeling it might follow behind Amtrak. But, that is just a guess. I saw the thing in Imlay City today.

Here is the train's consist. A CN SD60F, 2 flat cars, a flat with some tool boxes on it, 2 flat cars, caboose, CEBX 800, flatcar, caboose.

Here is a link to my video!

Heading to Kansas, taking CN to Chicago at least is all I've heard. Hearing they are still in Flint right now(9:30am), but should be heading west soon... wonder if they'll even make lansing today :)

Scooterb posted thisin the chatbox earlier:
(11:41:43) Scooterb: heard something on CN about meeting the special train around Vernon?
This might be the CEBX800 moving, not for sure though.

Isn't Vernon between Durand and Owosso on the HESR? There used to be a wig-wag near there.

CN's Vernon is the location of the crossovers on the double track between Durand and Bancroft.

ScooterB reports that they must be near Lansing. Dispatcher was just talking to O915 with CN 5528 about which main they want to run from Okemos to Cedar.
