CSXT 541 is currently leading L326-17 east through Stevensville.

CSXT 2691 is currently leading D700-17 west onto #2 track at Riverside. They will meet L326 at the west end of double track in St. Joseph. (Signal is called Benton Harbor at west end of double track, but is actually within the St. Joseph city limits.)

GDLK picked up the empties yesterday at the GRE during the day. Not sure if they left 2 or not. CSX brought a cut of Kings last night. 371 is still south, not sure why, they could have got closer last night. Guessing a trip to Lowell today.

On the route in, heard the following:
Amtrak P37118 west at Saugatuck 8:34am
Q33418 east at Fox in GR 8:34am
D80118 at Wells, main to siding to hook onto rear of loaded coal at 8:38am
D70017 east at Vriesland 8:44am

Mike, is your N train north or southbound?

Northbound load, the scanner doesn't pick up hardly anything anymore and it's time for a new one. It could've been a "U" train also.

You positive? The reason I thought they were from CSX was the GDLK empties were gone on the way home from work about 5:30. I went to a meeting last night and on the way home what appeared to be loads were in the track against the engine hosue. I've never seen GDLK set off on the those yard tracks.

And the reason Q196 sits in Wyoming is because...you guessed it, The TV yard can't handle it early.
Q195 was so late out of Detroit yesterday is because the TV yard crew took the units off 195 to switch with. Crew on duty for 5 plus hours while they watched them switch the yard. When I watched Ward on Cramer the other night and then see this stuff I just wanna....well nevermind.

Doktor No wrote:Unless they fell outta da sky when I wasn't lookin, no they didn't come from CSX. I do a yard inventory every day and look the yard over mornings and afternoons at home and work...and no Wheaties are coming in from CSX. Evidently NS/GLK has a lower price from the west so they get the business. CSX raises the price, you either pay it or go somewhere else, they went somewhere else. They all go thru Chitown from ND, SD and Minn anyway.
And that's a little surprising cause CSX can get it to GRE one one railroad company and through GRLK takes two from Chicago.

Doktor No wrote:AARR, don't be surprised at all. CSX got rid of their brick traffic in one fell swoop a couple of years ago by pricing out of existance.
I noticed. Used to get a lot of brick in Detroit now very little if any.

CN did same thing to beer about 4-5 years ago. Priced it so truck was cheaper. For beer one rail car = two trucks. CN raised price it so it was cheaper $$$ for truck haul. I'm not aware of a single beer distributer that still has siding connected to main line in Detroit area :(

According to a fairly reliable source, the GDLK routing is more expensie but is more reliable and consistant. However in almost the same breath there was grumbling about GDLK :?
