LSRC Z127, LSRC 1178, Clear Bridgeport, heading northbound.
Re: Michigan shortline updates: February
According to Conrail_Jon, the HESR just picked up a CSX grain train from the LSRC in Saginaw. The power was the 8804, 9712, and the 8802. It was heading north on the HESR out of Saginaw a little bit ago. Bound for Auburn, maybe?

HESR 702 with CMGN 2014 and HESR 2668 heading south through Saginaw at 1222.
Sounded like the grain train was HESR 771, indeed went to Auburn.

Caught 702 in Lennon around 2:30. Rather large train, covered most of the ground from M13 to M21. They stopped at Lennon to let off the conductor who then walked towards Durand. He walked for a half hour and had two MOW guys walk with him before 702 continued its journey.

SGVY 999 SW12 Reportedly sold to The Andersons
I believe there were two of them on the property at the time, both painted the same way. I do not know of any other history

Ya, I got your buddys pm on it. Didn't even know it was dead, but I Don't believe it's been dead all year. I remember seeing it in Flint some point last year. 999 is gone, had Andersons reporting marks when it left but who knows if it ended up there. As of today, 5086, 5175, 998, 1471, 5492 and 8905 were all in the dead/storage line in Bay City, stacks capped. KXHR 9580 and 9519, the new GP40-2W's from the Wiregrass Central, were also present but were both in the storage lines.JDavis21835 wrote:Evan wrote:I don't believe 5086 is OOS yet, just this past week it was on the 702 job. 5175 is a different story..But thank you for the information. As reported earlier, 702 had CMGN 2014 and HESR 2668. 800 had HESR 3866, while I believe 740 had CORP 3838 and HESR 3865. 771 had 8804, 9712 and 8802.

Re: Michigan shortline updates: February
She's been dead since June of last year, It was on a grain train to Flint from Saginaw by the time it got to Flint there was oil leaking out of the engine compartment and it was shut down in route, Must have been something major. Also i would like to add i was told by a LSRC employee that the 1178 was in the shop a lot it was a maintenance headache she must have finally gave up the ghost.Justin wrote:Evan, just a quick correction for ya, 1178 is sitting next to the roundhouse inEvan wrote:LSRC Z127, LSRC 1178, Clear Bridgeport, heading northbound.

Speaking of LSRC units i have not seen the 2052 since January of 2012 at least that was the last pics i took of her on the road. I was wondering has anybody else seen it. Maybe it's in the roundhouse.

Re: Michigan shortline updates: February
I shot it leading a windmill train in June(?) leading the 5921. That's the last I saw it, too. I think it had a electronics issue, but I maybe thinking of a different enginepenn central wrote:Speaking of LSRC units i have not seen the 2052 since January of 2012 at least that was the last pics i took of her on the road. Re: Michigan shortline updates: February
It is in the roundhouse, I have been doing some work for Lake State recently, have been in the yard a few times, 2052 was in the shop getting an engine rebuild, per the mechanics.penn central wrote:Speaking of LSRC units i have not seen the 2052 since January of 2012 at least that was the last pics i took of her on the road. Another update from today, 701 had, as mentioned before, the 2668 and 2014, with 60 cars, most of them for Dow. It was brought to my attention also that 702 this morning was a monster train, around 110 cars, which is bigger than usual.

Re: Michigan shortline updates: February
It's my understanding that the 2052 has been tending to stick around Saginaw in the yard. I also don't think that the railroad was very happy with their EMD rebuilds. The 371 and the 2003 are out of service/retired (?), and the 2052 kind of still there. I think the thought process was that the railroad spent so much money on the rebuilds that they can't just give up on them. Good to hear that they're putting some more time into the 2052. I like that unit.

Good to see you posting here again Justin. would you happen to know why 702 was so large? Was there a grain block? Was there a few days worth of traffic?Justin wrote:It was brought to my attention also that 702 this morning was a monster train, around 110 cars, which is bigger than usual.

Re: Michigan shortline updates: February
Just a LOT of Dow cars by the looks of it. Just a really long train, looked like the usual stuff. IIRC they didn't run a 702 one day last week (Friday?), only running a 701 north out of Durand, so it's possible that was a few days worth of traffic.AARR wrote:Good to see you posting here again Justin. would you happen to know why 702 was so large? Re: Michigan shortline updates: February
I saw LSRC Switching Saginaw yard this morning around 7:15, single GP40 With grain cars on the headend. the train was facing west, could this have been the Z126? I don't know much on LSRC Ids
Also, HESR 740 Was working Genesse yard, with what I believe was 9712 leading.

It might've been another Z job going to Paines. Z126 is the train that goes up to Bay City.
