CSX Train Location Updates: 4/20/12.

D801 Does anyone know if yesterday's Q335 made it all the way to GR or if they tied down somewhere outside of town?

Last I heard after crew #3 was onboard, (just to get the train beyond Ann Pere) that this crew was to tie the train down at Ensel and would have to put the 155 cars into two different tracks there.

Looked like there are quite a few cars in Ensel right now, spread over 5 separate tracks, each rather full. If 708 is still out, it might be 335's power that is sitting out there.

A bit late to help some people but Q327 went west from GR about an hour ago. CSX 7557, UP 2025, CSX 9249, 2659, 2692 & 9156. It sounded like at least one, maybe two, of the GeeP's was to be setout at Holland.

Looks like two slug sets to me. Wonder if they're running from the flood? Water can't be far from burying the rails in Grandville

Not slug sets, just 2 GP38-2s and 2 RCPHG4 drones. You do know drones are not slugs, right? Slugs have traction motors, drones are motorless, engineless shells.

What I think is D737 is going through Grand Blanc right now northbound with CSX 6907, CSX 2311(?) two covered hoppers, a box car, and a tank car.

4049 and the BC Rail unit WAS the power on 335 yesterday, but both units were facing west. D708 with CSX 8447 and five car still sits in Fowlerville.

I was out in Grandville this evening and by my estimation, the tracks will be facing zero threat from the water. It appears that the water is surging outward, not upward from Buck Creek. The water level on the Buck Creek bridge was the same as when I photographed it yesterday. However, many of the streets in Grandville have more water on them. That tells me the water is pushing outward, spreading as it goes, not upward.

I'd take a listen to the scanner, they "departed" Holland last night to bury themselves in Waverly. I guess the question for Jochs is if he saw any buses or not...Amtrak.com shows service disruption...

Think of them as a large remote control receiver. It makes it so that CSX didn't have to dedicate powered units to have the remote control hardware... They also did that with a few beat cars to do the exact same thing, only these units didn't have enough weight to stay on the rails in the winter, and also didn't have a way to keep the air lines dry(?) or some such other problem. They were stored in Muskegon until that yard was leased out... I think they went back to Waycross, but I really didn't pay much attention to where they went.
