Interesting, I see there is an energy company that gets them there from Google Earths view of it, are they sourcing them from here in the state or from all over?LansingRailFan wrote: ↑Mon Sep 28, 2020 8:43 pmScrap ties that go to McBain

All over the country. CN’s go to a place in the UP somewhere.
There are two places on the GLC that burn scrap ties. I forget where the other one is located but someone on here will have the answer.

There's a place in Grayling that ships out railroad ties. They send them to a treatment plant I think. But as far as I know only the plant in McBain and L'Anse receive railroad ties by rail for burning.

I'm not sure when they arrived, but I was on 3 Mile around noonish and heard them blowing for the 3 Mile Road crossing on the Williamsburg branch (only about 2 1/2 miles from the TC depot). I'm not sure if they were headed to or from Williamsburg, but I'm guessing just headed out to Williamsburg. Yesterday there was a loaded gondola at Beacon (heaping load of shredded metal), so they may have also gone to Beacon.AANscaleRunner wrote: ↑Wed Sep 30, 2020 7:19 pmYou wouldn't happen to know about what time would you?
