8619 calling clear pair Brighton at 09:20, this was D705. On my way to work, last clear call from them was 59 at 09:48. I think 8619 is an SD50-2, lets hope it stays on the rotation for a couple days.

I always thought the CSX SD50's looked POWERFULL for want of a better word...but they sucked as a switch engine. We killed one during my last winter at work....it just DIED and wouldn't start anymore...and hooked to a remote sled...presented a problem...take it to the house? Nope.

tie gang friday
340p - at east waverly
looks like tie gang may be about to tie up for the weekend.
the lead machine ran 10 to 14 times back and forth pass the tower before stopping
short of 112th ave.
330p - est half of the tie gang equipment has gone pass the tower and is lined up east of 112th ave ,
the last of the equipment was the tie removal cranes pulling a cart with new ties on them.
equipment is moving westward pass 112th ave ( they may be using waverly siding to tie up for the weekend )
345p - equipment stopped east of 112th again, no ties have been replaced going pass me.
352p - all stopped equipment now west of 112th ave

OK, folkz, according to "Heritage Units," CSX GP40WH-2 #9969 and F40PH #9999 are on a work train parked in Walbridge, OH!!!! Will this train come up to Michigan? :?: Man I hope to see it as I have never seen these units!!!! Does anybody here know anything? :?:

"Heritage Units" CSXT 9969: https://heritageunits.com/locomotive/detail/CSXT9969
They are on W003 the CSX inspection tren. Unknown where it’s headed next and usually they don’t work Fridays.
The real question is will W003 "Inspection Train" work Saturday? :?: Let's hope it will come to Michigan!!!! If it doesn't come to MI this time, will it keep the same power and come another time? :?: WOW!!!!

Thanks all for the info, I didn't know SD50-3 rebuilds were a thing, but yes, the standard cab 50's 60's and 70's are a favorite of mine for that very reason.
IIRC SD50's are known for failing crankshafts, maybe that's what your issue was?

D708 has a clear signal westbound out of Brighton as of 17:25. 4016 and 6560.
Out of Brighton at 17:40, above power and 44 cars.

14 SD50 type units went through some sort of rebuilding project several years. They were 8502,8523,8526,8536,8540,8568,8582, 8604,8609,8612,8613,8614,8619, 8862, Last I knew, all but a few of the SD50-2 units have left the roster and even those could be gone by now, but long time stored. Even the dash three rebuilds have been in storage quite a bit of the time but a fair amount are out and running again.

GLC is currently whistling thru town heading south at 17:45 and for the third day in a row will be at Ann Pere the same time as D708, 708 left nearly 50 cars for GLC parked on the main which they will soon be picked up by them as 708 runs through the siding heading west, 708 left a bunch of cars west of Howell as well heading east which will be picked up on their way back west.

I was told they'd be dropping ballast through CH 41 then running around in Brighton to head back to Plymouth.
WAS EE Brighton was showing an approach aspect as of half an hour ago or so.
