CSX Train Location Updates - June 2024

1:50pm, G757-27 is south of Hudson ville, moving at 5mph. North track signal is Green, South track is Red.

1:55pm, G757-27 stopped north of signal at W.E. Hudsonville CG-13.99 Signal control hut. Two rail fans also waiting near the tracks.

2:02pm M326-29 approaching and passed by.

2:05-09pm G757 got Green. Started up, moved over swith to West/South track. Passed by after 4mins.

G757-27 crossing 141st Ave southbound from Holland; south of airport.

3:03pm, G757 approaching Fennville.

3:06pm, G757 crossing Fennville crossing.

3:07pm. G757 Cleared Fennville crossing.

3:50pm, Jun 28. R597-28 is tied down at Grand Junction southbound with its consist of empties.. Engine #8756 is the only engine on the lead. Interested, to me anyway, is that #8756 is shut down/shut off. I have have nevered encountered an engine shut off, out on the road, before this over many years of 'watching'; always a first, I guess, specially. with price of Diesel.

4:06pm: Coal train N (symbol?-actual C901-28 ) lost all cell signal, when in Grand Junction) into WE Grand Junction.

4:15 Loded train C801-28 pulled uo next to Empties R

4:40pm: Lead engine of C801-28 coupled to helper engines trailing R. Uncoupled 2 of 3 Trailing engines from from R, and now connecting to the head of C801-28.

Sorry on symbols. Loss of cell service interfering with updates

4:30pm: 8437 [ SD70ACe ], 846 ES44AH ] at Grand Junction, [ Storage 5827, CR398 ]. Now backing down to couple to train C801-28.

4:40pm setting air on C801-28 with helpers

Will run up to E. Saugatuck at 55th Ave and catch pulling.

Unknown train sitting at Fowlerville at 4:38pm. Drove passed a set of cars without movement from the freeway

You mean east. The CSX Grand Rapids subdivision runs in two directions west and east. So if the train is heading to Chicago it’s heading westbound and if it’s heading to Grand Rapids it’s heading eastbound. I just thought you should know.

5:17pm C801-28 just crossed the E. Saugatuck crossing, down to about 20 mph.

Re: East and West, thanks for update. Battle Creek CN is East and West, but refers to the tracks as "North and South". (At least through town)

That would be C801-28. I will update this post with numbers after my dinner. BNSF #8437 + CSX #846 + CSX #3133 and 129 loaded coal cars + rear BNSF #9386 DPU

6:46: Update- Crew says symbol was/is "C801-28". He mentioned the other Coal Train inbound. Issue is don't have the CSX engines for Hill Helpers, at this time.

:22pm. C801-28 in the distance at W. Olive.

6:26pm, C801-28 at crossing before CE gates.
Note: two (2) crew dismounting # 8437. Gone and disappeared to weeds?. My brother, ex-UP engineer says the on-engine toilets don't always work!! Wild guess.. Tiyig it down maybe?

The Limo just pulled over nearer engines side of road. It was near the gate.

Question: Was this trains Symbol a 'C" and not an 'N'? [ crew- C801-28 ]

6:35pm 2 crew on ground are back on 8437. Maybe walked the train ... don't know.

6:36: Engines throttled down to low idle from high idle.

6:38pm: 2 crew dis-embarking with their 'grips'. Loading limo and getting in.

6:42pm, 3rd of 3 crew members locked the front entry door and left train. Gone to limo.

E800-27 (Empty Coal Train) @ 18:32 westbound reported by the DD 91.9 St Joseph, Mi at 532 axles. BNSF #8756 + 130 empty coal cars + rear BNSF #5694. He will meet C800-30 along the way to Chicago.

Thanks for all the updates. It looks like you picked a really good day for railfanning the CSX Grand Rapids subdivision and the CSX Fremont subdivision.
