CSX GRE MQT Train Location Update 8-6-08

Unread post by Raildudes dad »

Looks quiet at the GRE. NS & CSX picked up last night but didn't deliver anything. The usual Amtrak.

Any guess on what time 'later' for the K389 through Toledo? Although I've seen them heavily delayed before through Fostoria and up the C&O - I remember one time I was over in Tiffin and just missed it. Several hours later I was heading back to Toledo and heard them wondering when they'd make it to Walbridge but they were parked second out behind a grain train that was being held out South of the Turnpike and nobody seemed to be moving anytime soon.

Also, I got a nice shot of a CSX manifest parked at Tracy Rd. waiting to get into Stanley this morning with a Conrail C40-8 leader #7491 but didn't get a symbol. Could someone let me know what train that was if you get a chance? (I know the usual suspects, but would like to know which one of them it was)

Thanks,
Michael

MDH, if K38906 leaves at what they jodded down as 12:05, they are guessing arrival at Walbridge for 18:05. I'll check them again this afternoon to see if they are on the move.

Also, that CSXT 7491 was on Q32405, finished parking at Stanley at 9:45.

Please do not poke at the ramp agent because he has the power to make your vacation
memorable or miserable. It all depends on what flight you bags go on.

Q327-06 8575,8501,9301 over the Fowlerville DD at 403pm with 106 axels. Trailing unit would be a RCPHG6, an exC30-7. D709-06, late today, tucked in the Webberville Grainery waiting for him. Doesn't look like he will get to far east, but did make it from Ensel to Ensel on Monday going all the way to South Lyon to deliver a lumber load, with time to spare.

No problem - I heard them in Walbridge on the scanner when I left but it sounded like they wouldn't be moving for a while and I had to get home. It was already cloudy and then it started raining a bit later anyway so oh-well on that one...

By the way, thanks for the ID on the Q324 - here's the shot from this morning:

Great shot Michael! Is it common that any train coming eastbound from the Toledo Sub has to wait for clearance into Stanley Yard? Everytime I'm down there with Jon they got something waiting at that spot west of Stanley Yard.

I'd say very common. They use it for a hold-out for Stanley, especially now with the Oregon Rd. overpass in place most trains don't block any crossings when parked at Tracy. This morning, Q324 was parked there again and next to it was a W0 something ballast train with an SD70ACe leader. (W040? - didn't write it down right away and not sure I'm remembering right) They'll pull up and sit there anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours. It's actually more of an exception when they roll straight into the yard without stopping there. I'll often see a couple trains a day parked there for a while.

(and this time of year it's like shooting fish in a barrel to get good photos!)

Regards,
Michael
