CSX GRE MQT Train Location Update 8-12-08

1 MMRR truck at the GRE, no additional inbound other than the 4 CH's yesterday so I'm not sure waht will happen. The usual Amtrak.

That is correct Zack. Plant cut ins on the NS has caused Amtrak to bustitute all MICH trains today. This is from the AMTK website:

Service Alert: Wolverine, Pere Marquette and Blue Water Service Trains will not Operate August 12 — Motorcoach Service Provided To All Stations on these Routes

On Tuesday, August 12, all Wolverine, Pere Marquette and Blue Water Service trains will be cancelled, and passengers will be provided motorcoach service to all stations along the routes. This temporary change is due to multiple track work projects being performed by Norfolk Southern, Conrail and Amtrak.

GRE was out near Ada around 08:15. G010-12 was starting east about the same time as well.
NS was waiting for the track inspector to clear up before heading over to Wyoming Yard.

Nice and sunny, I was running a bit behind so didn't have time to head trackside on the way to work(happens too often i don't leave early)
Heard D700 going through vriesland and Hudsonville, by Jenison about 9am. Couldn't get the engine number, as the conductor "talked faster than I can hear."
Heard X500 clearing MP 27 as well, then blowing through Zeeland as I got to work at 9am. CP 9612 leading.

This morning on the way in I saw a train sitting on the Toledo Branch waiting to come up to or past Stanley with ES44 #5481 leading and a UP unit trailing. I'm curious what symbol train that was? It was a manifest and don't see many of those on the Branch any more since 636/637 were re-routed down the C&O.

Also, heard a N820-08 (I think) heading down the Toledo Sub - already in Perrysburg before I could even get over the river (@ 7:45?) and I think it had BNSF power on it.

As a general FYI for the Toledo area - last week NS had a contract ballast cleaner train working the area and yesterday I noticed fresh ballast dumped on the controlled sidings at CP285 East (Vickers) and CP292 West (West of Toledo yard). Looked like it needed tamped, etc. There also appeared to be camp cars down by the depot and over the weekend I saw a work train tucked in the siding at 285.

Ah, so Z15111 was at Comstock Park earlier going north, now at Sparta facing north for it's crew change. Thought at first that MQT didn't make it all the way to GR last night.

S335-13 (replacement Q335-13) will run tonight back to back with Q335-13 out of GR.........

K357-10 also should run either tonight or tomorrow depending on crew availibility....

Your inbound train was L638-11 which is the first of a few to be run to Stanley due to a M of W project around Avon (as the normal Q638 terminates at Avon)...

There is a L638-12 heading your way by Greencastle Station, IN at 1328...these trains run out of TRRA/East St Louis Madison Yard and tend to get runthrough power........

From JT in Muskegon, MS 179 is currently switching Nugent Sand. Meanwhile, GR 3839 is down the South Horn Spur switching Sappi Paper.

D700 should have had the 6083 leading with the 2699 and 2520 trailing... Gregg went out for the 1-fiddy-1 experience last night. Also seen were Q334, P370, Y320, and Y321. Y321 has Chris`s CSXT 4411. Gregg is on his way back to lansing.

Hmm...appears to be a pileup west of lansing... d708, q327, and CP X500 all stuck between Lake O and Ensel still... X500 went by Lake O three hours ago and still isn't to Ensel.
