CSX GRE MQT Train Location Update 8-14-08

Unread post by Tlout »

D80114 south at Riley Street 6:38 AM - light power, BNSF units.

Heard someone calling an east bound signal at Holland Depot at about the same time - signal was too weak to hear train designation...

Looks quiet again today at the GRE. 1 inbound CH from CSX. Looks like 119 again pushing 371 (could only see the nose number, kinda small print for me).

Jon,

I think there was another L638 parked at Oregon Rd. on the Toledo Branch this morning - the crew was hanging out on the ground and they were waiting to head into Stanley by appearances. Pure CSX power and another overcast day here though...

Regards,
Michael

Thanks! That was almost certainly him I saw this morning at 8AM parked at Oregon Rd. They finally went into Stanley a little bit ago. That also implies Q132 is off-schedule today (probably running late) and I may yet see it go by later.

That's the second time this week (that I noticed) they were parked there at 8AM. First time they'd pulled up tight on the crossing and the lead unit was in shadows (crew probably didn't want to be blinded while they waited). And this time the sky was pretty overcast/cloudy AND hazy - really sucky for photography... Guess I'll try again tomorrow! Wonder how long they'll be doing these re-routes?

Regards,
Michael

Just heard on the scanner, East Tower is just letting Q335-14 into the yard. They are short on time and trying to get the train into the yard before they go on the law. 2 hours to get from Fox to Wyoming yard. Must be a good day on CSX.

Please do not poke at the ramp agent because he has the power to make your vacation
memorable or miserable. It all depends on what flight you bags go on.

Too bad they don't have that schedule every day.

Well a schedule like that makes more work for the day crew. But good note the 3001 has been the road power recently.

The night crew gets the most varied schedule. The day crew has around 4 possible stops to make in a given shift, where the Night crew can have on average 6 to 8 stops a night. Most with facing point switches which take more time to service and the like. As much as I like watching the fabulous night crew switch, the day crew does have a pretty cake gig.
