Did you mean CMGN 8804
?? How does Central Michigan play into this??
CN 8804 is an SD70M-2, not at all affiliated with CMGN.

Well, I'll be honest: it's a bad joke. Rather random and doesn't fit in this thread.

Lighten up, Gregg. I'm sure you've had some failed attempts at humor. Don's "joke" was probably meant to be taken as ironic moreso than funny. Your post, nor mine belong in this thread either.

Ahh Gregg, you hurt my feelings. I won't be able to sleep until I know you approve of my posts. Maybe I should run them by you first before posting to make sure they're ok with you.

Hey GTW6401..Maybe you know ( or someone else) but what's up with CN recently with these "hot shot" trains in the evening? Last few weeks or so I've seen a few of these 20-30 car trains racing past me heading WB (I live next to the Holly sub line in Fenton) towards Durand. Just curious..they come thru right around 8:30 or so. Thanks.

12:35PM: 490 will be running strait through Pontiac around 12:45PM on track number one. I am unsure on the engine numbers. 382 is departing East Yard.

5:20PM: 5854 is taking a few gondolas and an auto rack south on the Holly moving very slow.

5:38PM: 5854 has arrived in Moterms North side and is heading in.

6:27PM: 5854 is heading north, it will only be able to do 30 mph due to a problem.

The only thing I have saw recently that might fit in with what your referring to was a light engine move into Moterm Monday afternoon that I believe went northbound. The power was CN 5779.

Typically I only venture out along the Holly south of Pontiac, but whenever I see 491 in Pontiac they have always done a set out and pickup while there, and based upon that time of day it could very well be 491.

However, if what your seeing consistantly has GTW power its likely coming out of Pontiac bound for Durand, but I cant say for sure.

While up around Waterford a few weeks ago I heard 491 meet a SB 540 at Andersonville that had around 15 cars out of Durand and the power off a BNSF coal train they delivered in Lansing.

OH KNOW! 353 reported they almost got burned on track number one! Large fire at sterling oil. 353 reports 30 foot flames. Tank cars are on a siding next to the fire. TD2 is getting trains away from the tank cars. No fire department are at the fire yet.

UPDATE 11:40PM: Fire department is evacuating the area. This fire is now making local news.

UPDATE 11:43 PM: I didn't hear where but they are talking about rerouting 350(when it comes time) around the fire.

The engineer of Amtrak 353 told TD2 that "We made it, but it was a hair raising experience."

Amtrak 350 tied down at Woodward with 355 going west from there. 490 was also nearby on the Holly but was still a good half-mile north of everything.
