BNSF 9277, 8957 with West Olive empties south at Riley St. Holland 4:00 PM.
Re: CSX Train Location Updates - July 2019
Grain load from Webberville east by Howell at 19:00 with CSX 919+3046+5464 with 90 cars. Train will be tied down at Sheldon Road to await an outbound crew. Unknown what the train designation was, or what it will be leaving Plymouth. Could be a G010 or G013 train to Plymouth, or G65513 all the way.

P370-13 is currently going through Benton Harbor. Sounds like IDTX 4614 leading.

I caught 329 at South Lyon around 7:30 with 860 solo. Was told 328 left GR an hour ago or so...any idea how long that’d be to Howell? I’m hanging out at the signal bridge in town.

329 just crossed the 104.3dd. 351 axles and 4700' roughly. Anyone know how they get an odd # of axles like that? Q32814 went east by Howell at 11:48 with CSX 832+5237 and 107 cars. Evidently Pie39 wasn't here to see it, or at least didn't report it. The already reported many times Q32914 went by Howell at 08:06 with its single unit 860 and moving right along well at track speed with its 83 cars. Every time the DD gets an odd count like was reported, I just say it counted the EOT as one axel. Perhaps it messed it up today because it had both an EOT and a flag on the rear end.
Evidently, nobody saw the Webberville grain load at Sheldon Road Plymouth that I reported on the board yesterday at 21:19 when it went by Howell at 21:00. That message was cut off as a lead post within two minutes by another post.

Phone died before 328 got to me, fortunately my camera was working fine. Re: CSX Train Location Updates - July 2019
The axle count is done by the wheel flanges passing over the 2 rail mounted (inside the gage) magnetic transducers located near one of the two HBD scanners (doesn't matter which rail is used). No actual contact is made with the transducers, it's just the wheel flanges entering the magnetic fields. The 1st transducer that is rolled over starts the infra-red sample collections from the wheel bearing & the 2nd transducer ends the sample collection for that bearing. EOT's are not only too high to be detected they are also in the center of the car & the same for flags (usually wooden poles on them too). An extra axle can be added if the transducers are getting old & become "noisey" & the pounding of a wheel flat spot can cause a "noise shot" to occur. If the train slows down to near 5mph a lower axle count will happen. Sometimes there are 2 extra transducers used for advance start, with 1 located about 60 to 75 feet away from the HBD scanners in each direction. The DD at mp CG91.9 for a while would add 1 or 2 extra axles but not on every train. It was eventually taken care of.BL2-1843 wrote:Q32814 went east by Howell at 11:48 with CSX 832+5237 and 107 cars. I alway wonder how they work but why would they always add an axle with the mother and slug?Tom49801 wrote:The axle count is done by the wheel flanges passing over the 2 rail mounted (inside the gage) magnetic transducers located near one of the two HBD scanners (doesn't matter which rail is used).
