That EJ&E 659 better make its way back up to BC and hopefully Lansing to do Cory Yard duties. It's been a while since a EJ&E did Cory yard duties in Lansing so all the Lansing area railfans are waiting for one!bctrainfan wrote:Train leaving Battle Creek yard WB with 2 VIA observation cars on the tail end, not sure if the power is 2 CN with orange EJE 659 or if that was power on a separate WB that was lined up about the same time. Also idling at the fuel dock waiting to head west also is a Lansing coal MT with NS 9957 leading BNSF 7118.
Haven't seen any GTW blue power around the BC yard lately, has it just moved elsewhere or is it just finally disappearing all together?
The only GTW Blue Unit that I know is in Michigan is GTW 5936 and he's working between Flint and Pontiacbctrainfan wrote:Train leaving Battle Creek yard WB with 2 VIA observation cars on the tail end, not sure if the power is 2 CN with orange EJE 659 or if that was power on a separate WB that was lined up about the same time. Hey, bctrainfan, I haven't seen any GTW "Power" power east over here for a few weeks─I haven't been at the tracks as much as I'd like though! Heritageunits.com shows activity recently! I looked at all 51 GTW "Blue" units listed! There's only five "Reported" active during the month of November! The most recent though is GTW SD40-2 #5936 on 11-15-16 working train 514 in Gaines, MI!!!! This makes the question: "How much longer will we have GTW 'Power?'"Time will tell, but recently local train 524 was using CN GP38-2W #4788!!!! Wow, you caught two Via® "Observation Cars?" Did they have the Red "Marker Lights" turned on? Where could these be heading? That sounds like a great "Catch"─especially with the "Rare" "Orange J" loco! Don't feel bad SD70ACe Fan, you saw the actual "J!!!!"

If anyone else can provide an exact location on GTW 5936 this weekend, it would be much appreciated, this unit is the Grand Trunk Blue, ergh, White Whale! It seems its been working the locals between Flint and Pontiac the last few weeks. We are up here for the weekend for the Ohio State vs Michigan State game, I will be providing updates from Lansing & Durand on CN movements all weekend long on here. Also for what it might be worth GTW 5936 was on 514 when it went back north out of Pontiac this morning. I did not catch it this morning. I did last week one night and still GTW blue then.
It's usually on 514 any time between 10PM and 7AM. When it's not on 514 it sits in the Flint Yard.strugglin wrote:If anyone else can provide an exact location on GTW 5936 this weekend, it would be much appreciated, this unit is the Grand Trunk Blue, ergh, White Whale!
