Re: CN Updates: November 2022
Double stacked SB passing MP 22.5 on the Holly at 4:10 pm with two CN 5600's as power. I presume 508 as there has been no mention of a 116 anywhere on the Flint Sub today from the reports I have seen. Long train.
And passing the container train on Main 2 is the returning NB 515 with 5450 running in reverse at 60 mph.

What looked like a SB 513 just drifted past MP 22.5 with a short train at 8:20 pm.

Re: CN Updates: November 2022
OK CSXBOY, we need answers! It appears the unit you're referring is getting "SCRAPPED" at LTEX!!!! Why start this rumor? Why "Confidential?" It shouldn't be!
Well, if it is just a "Regular Dash 8" then there isn't a reason the preserve it! Right? CN C40-8W 2159 is still a nice ex ATSF "Warbonnet" engine! Sure it looked better in Silver/Red! Maybe this weekend I'll venture down to Walbridge, Ohio (with 'Railfan' Rick McConber) to see all these CN Dash 8s one final time!!!!
Robertrains wrote: ↑Thu Nov 10, 2022 12:57 pmWell cool!!!! Here is some good news for an old Dash 8!!!!! Confidential CSXBOY, but did you see what kind of engine? Was it a "COWL?" We need one of those preserved! Would S.R.I. capture this? Maybe a new display at Lapeer, Imlay City or Port Huron PH&D? M.T.M. does not have the cash! Maybe CN is donating one!!!!CSXBOY wrote: ↑Thu Nov 10, 2022 12:11 pm
AM report on the CN Flint Sub in potterville and lansing. Pretty solid morning for activity.
6. Eastbound canadain national mixed freight train through east Lansing at 10:35 am with a gevo, m-2 and an offline dash 8 that is being preserved somewhere in Michigan. Cannot say who bought it or where it's going. Confidential stuff

I need some "PROOF" that this engine is being preserved!!!!! Seems unlikely!Robertrains wrote: ↑Thu Nov 10, 2022 1:39 pmBut, could you help say where this train is? Will this loco head through Emmett? I can send the friend (Roger) to photograph for me! Hope it is a "COWL!!!!" Where will it be?LansingRailFan wrote: ↑Thu Nov 10, 2022 1:28 pmIt was IC 2466 and it was onlineRobertrains wrote: ↑Thu Nov 10, 2022 1:39 pmLansingRailfan, I am well aware that IC "Blue Devil" 2466 was working westbound!!!!! Re: CN Updates: November 2022
At around 1:30 am, Train 513 came back NB from doing its work on the south Holly. It was blowing its horn at Opdyke like it was going 100 mph and there was auto traffic and no gates! Woke up all of Bloomfield Hills, I bet. What happened to the short, polite night toots at empty crossings? I guess if I had to be working at that hour everyone may as well know it! And it woke me up so I could give this report of its passage.

Re: CN Updates: November 2022
Passing through Bloomfield Hills at 12:20 pm, record time from Trenton. Those low-numbered 5600's were built in 1995, if I recall. The first ones on CN and the first ones of the new model and the first model of EMD/GMD's "third generation" of diesel electric locomotives. I remember the first time I saw one. Two were on a train passing through Komoka Junction in Ontario. Boy did they seem huge compared to their predecessors. It is good to see them still on the mainline 27 years later, pulling their weight.
Re: CN Updates: November 2022
Sounds like it went through Davisburg. This might be a Battle Creek speed run.Manistique wrote: ↑Fri Nov 11, 2022 12:28 pmPassing through Bloomfield Hills at 12:20 pm, record time from Trenton.
