CSX Train Location Updates - May 2023

L302-05 passing Fowlerville at 18:17 with around 70 cars. 890+4564 on the head end. This makes the 5th day in a row for L302 within 30 minutes of each other at Howell, all between 18:00 and 18:30.

18:57 - L302-05 with 890 and 4564 westbound thru Trowbridge diamond with my count of 69 cars. In the 30th position was a box car with the conductors' side wide open.
The cut of cars in the siding I mentioned earlier this week is no longer present. No doubt overflow from Ensel with L305's latest consistency.

C801-04 @ 00:00 eastward reported by the DD mp CG91.9 with 528 axles. BNSF engine #(??) & 129 loaded coal cars & rear dpu BNSF engine #(??) He'll be adding his extra power, CSX engines #3289 + #3209, at the east end of Grand Jct mp CG54. Have yet to hear him call out his leading engine's number.

U301-05 @ 00:28 heading westward to Sawyer mp CG105.2 had his engine fail & is stopped at mp CG80.9 between Riverside & Grey prior to the St Joseph Bridge. He's calling the Mechanical Dept for assistance.

U301-05 @ 00:54 advised the Dispatcher their engine had lost its Companion Alternator & is dead. Management will be contacted for a plan of action. At 00:58 they are to tie down their train & a cab has been ordered to pick them up. Looked up what the Companion Alternator is & found: the alternator or generator that traditionally provides 100% of its output for the traction motors.
