Caught a pair on the Conrail near Milwaukee Junction between 5 and 5:30pm.

NS 9145 and 8349 were on a northbound into North Yard.
NS 5242 was southbound to Livernois.

Last night, I saw a couple NS units sorting their coke train in the Lettuce Yard. I've noticed they stage their coke trains here sometimes for a few days. I'm surprised they just don't hand them off to the mill and let them stage the coke cars in their yard :?

I assume you are talking about the "garden" lcated in the Delray section of Detroit, Mich? This would be the old support yard for the Detroit Union Produce Terminal on the Union Belt of Detroit east of Delray Interlocking?

It helps other, younger people or people not from Delray if you make a complete post such as LOCATION of where you are talking about.

Yes, Garden Yard. And good point about mentioning location. I'll try to remember that.

Would you happen know why they stage the coke cars there rather than in National Steel's yard?

I do not know why they are holding the DTE Coke cars at the Garden on the UBD in Detroit, Mich. Might not have enough room at the Delray Connecting yard on Zug Island. NS getting the cars piecmeal and holding them for a unit train.
