CSX (OH) Updates - 8/29/10

Unread post by cbehr91 »

Q-311 with an ex-Conrail SD60 heading up the Scottslawn Secondary, will wait at CP-Mounds for Q-123 to clear the single track and head into the Buckeye van yard. Q-636 is heading up the Columbus Sub with yet another ex-Conrail SD60 leader. Should be in the Delaware vicinity by now.

Q-123, engine #5381, has permission into the Buckeye van yard at 1635.

Q-311 received EC-01 to operate from CP-Darby to CP-82 (Ridgeway) at 1646.

i spent the evening in Fostoria saturday evening and a couple CSX symbols to note. Saw an S637 rumble through Fostoria with plastic hoppers, junk, tankers and a huge block of an assortment of coal gons on the end. also noted an S160 through Fostoria as well. Saw U9? headed towards Toledo or beyond? and an NS move left me scratching my head as to why there was a manifest block on the rear of 272 which was routed into the mixing center. From what i gather NS 146 is still operating and 307 was a good sized train. 14E was very short as well

An extra '637, huh? Both '636 and '637 have been hauling more trash lately, and have always been monster trains, so that makes sense.

Oh heck, I may as well throw my CSX updates in for the day. We were driving up to the Toledo area today for non-railfan activities, but I had my scanner. Q332 was approaching F-Tower and ready to turn east to Willard. However, the east end of the wye switch wouldn't work. Meanwhile, Q393 went west on #1. Driving north of Fostoria, K179 bit the dust at Risingsun, as he got a hot axle on 292. It was the typical 125 ore loads as well. A police officer in Bradner noticed the smoking axle and called the railroad. Then, Q151 went north and Q637 went south. Awhile later, heard the Q272 north and then E434 south. Driving back towards Fostoria, Q636 was heading north and had the clear while Q635 waited to turn south. NS 26V was at the mixing center. This whole thing was maybe 2pm-6pm.

I'm 90% sure what you saw were trash cars, not coal cars. Although, from the few times I've seen Q635 (or S635) the trash is usually up front.

If you heard this on sunday, it was more like 19:30 on later. And if you heard those two you should have heard Q16229 with CSXT 699.

Well Y@ i can tell you that there were those gray high sided hoppers that do carry trash...but they were towards the head end. On the other hand i can tell you that i was physically present as this train rolled by me from 20 yards away because #1 with the help of a scanner i did catch the train symbol as presented on radio (S637) #2 just what were those 40+ dark colored things that said CSX on the side and just what were those things that said "conrail" on the side? #3 unless Q635 was rerouted, doesn't carry coal gons. which i'm pretty sure it wasn't 635.

see what happens when you ass-ume  i hope this is more than enough evidence to prove my theory

Caught them both at Bradner. Didn't hear 162.

The S637-28 in question was a "extra" but not a second section. Q637 doesnt run on Saturday and they ran it under the S637 symbol. The cars in question were coal hoppers from Toledo Docks and a few from MI (to be scrapped). Sorry Y@ redside is correct on this one but I agree with Y@.......I dont post info that much because "everyone" knows to much and not the truth :)

Amen JQ..thank you for clearing that up. I try to be careful about what i post and i try to have a source handy from where i got the information from so i don't get called out. And Y@, what JQ just said goes double for you and don't even tell me you've never done it yourself.

Never said I was perfect. Yeah, I screw up too sometimes. Who doesn't? The important thing some people need to realize is when to shut up.

I'm out.

Alright girls, there's only one way to settle this. It'll be a railfan contest. Each pick a location for 8 hours, and whoever has the most trains wins, but like tennis and volleyball, have to win by 2 or it's a 1 hour tie breaker. Has to be the same day and time for each contestent.

LMAO! too funny. on a side note i'm kinda getting tired arguing with this person, because it's not doing me any good.
