Q32628 past Hudsonville 11am.
S33428 is in the blocks between Lake ODeesa and Lansing.

11:21 - q326 stuck at Grandville signal staring at a Red. Track crews working near Lamar..q326 said they are blocking a lot in town, dispatcher said it's busy today...out.
Lolz, update of "you'll be sitting there for 90 mins" - so try to clear up what you can.

11:30am - s33428 east with DME 6367 at MP95.

11:41am - GDLK Z739 at Pleasant St in Grand Rapids, going to work NS Joe Brown then up to GRE.

Disapatcher is evidently a MORON. Could have held them at Thrifty Acres, out of town and out of the way.
I know, I know, at least three trains on the division...that is hard enough to keep watch of....
I always thank the cosmic muffin that these people are not air traffic controllers.

You must speak of experience. Which desks were you qualified on? How much time did you spend behind the glass? I am sure that since you have enough experience to call out the dispatcher in the way that you did, you would know that the amount of trains on a desk can have little effect on a dispatcher's workload, especially on 1st shift. 1st RN on Tuesdays has the reputation of being the hardest job in the office, even with the little to train traffic out there. It also has the reputation for it being "firing Tuesday" as that job on that day has gotten mor people run off than any other since it moved up from JAX. I am sure that you are an expert on that though.

It always amazes me how much dispatching "talent" there is on the T&E side. When you tell them about open positions, the answer is always...oh now I couldn't do that job, too hard and stressful....

Why is 1st shift RN on Tuesday so difficult, then?

I stand by the MORON statement. KNOW THE TERRITORY. A lot of them are clueless. Some of them are great...but they retired.
Glad I got your goat. You love to keep the corn city people stirred up according to your byline. Guess I just did you eh?

I agree with Kittylitter! I've only ever heard of two of the people that man the RN desk touring the GR or Plymouth subs over the last couple of years and it wasn't he guy on the radio this AM. We heard him give the TI his EC1 at Lamar and 326 was close to heading out of Holland already. Most times they would have told the train to not come down to Grandville and stay our west of Cottonwood until they TI cleared up. Having them sit at 6.0 had them blocking at least 4 crossings basically cutting Grandville in half during the late AM rush hour.

You can stand by your statement all you want, it doesn't make in any less incorrect. I noticed you didn't answer my question, which in a roundabout way did answer my question. And yes, ignorance gets my goat.....

It is the largest territory, with some of the worst track, and a ridiculous about of signal problems. It seems to need constant attention by MOW forces. Mondays are usually slow somewhere on the MOW side, as that is the most common safety day for them. So Tuesday is the day that EVERYONE is looking for time. Getting those guys out will take far more time than running trains. The easiest and most common way for a dispatcher to get in trouble is with an ec1. Add in to the fact that neither Stanley or Wyoming can get a train out under 4 hours old and east end crews have never met a hill they don't stall on leads to a hectic day, with lots of jackpots waiting for the dispatcher. Thankfully I don't work that desk anymore, and want nothing to do with it.

Q33527 by Fowlerville at 18:00 with CSX 349+8710, CEFX 2813+3119 with 199 cars. Running 20 minutes behind D70828 who is going back to Ensel to get the Potash train K862 left last night and bring it back to spot at Webberville. Or... thats the current plan. 708 got a late call today because they were late getting in yesterday, waiting for PTI to pick them up at Howell.
