Curious went by here around 0400 this morning. All I heard was power, and a very reluctant and short couple blows for the intersection. Occasionally train to not seem to blow for Corwin Rd. in Williamston at all.

SB CSX through Novi.

Lady conductor!!!!

I'm gonna have a 160.230 MHz tuned 57 inch 5/8 whip and I can find a spot 90 feet on my roof, with the addition of a professional Kenwood receiver so hopefully I'll get 20-30 miles both directions for much more reliable and accurate reports, I feel bad to keep reporting half-filled reports.

As per usual, any train in the night heading west is a D908 train. This one, recrewed in Fowlerville prior to midnight for Mondays D708 train, they came east to Howell to do Ann Pere GLC work and went back to Lansing from here (instead of going to Plymouth)

Your radio is not the problem. I have a stationary unit connected to a "firecracker" antenna. My truck scanner uses a transit version of a skate antenna. I have been home and gotten only static on some signal calls. Other times, it seems the engineman is holding the radio phone a foot away. And in some cases they are not calling signals consistently. (160.230) I have NO trouble hearing the RN dispatcher when he or she is on 161.370.
I have been at Romulus and found out about a train coming only when it sounds the whistle for crossings.
