Re: CSX P001 Michigan Updates - August 17th, 2022
In anticipation of this, does anyone know what specifically was done to CSX F40PH-2s 9993 and 9998 when they were rebuilt and lengthened in Canada in 2017-2018? I guess I'm curious to know what the rebuilt entailed and wondering why they only did the treatment on two of the F40s instead of all four. 9993 and 9998 later became CSX2 and CSX1, respectively. If CSX3 is also in the consist, then we'll get to see an non-rebuilt F40 in the consist, too.
Looking forward to being trackside!

The extra length was added to house a stand-alone HEP diesel generator that does not draw off of the actual prime mover. Other "upgrades" included a Dash 3 electrical system, electronic air brakes, re-manufactured 16-645 engine, PTC, and new cab interiors.GP30M4216 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 15, 2022 10:23 amIn anticipation of this, does anyone know what specifically was done to CSX F40PH-2s 9993 and 9998 when they were rebuilt and lengthened in Canada in 2017-2018? The train is stored in Waycross, GA. It went south over the weekend to Jacksonville, FL where CSX HQ is located. P001-15 started from there.

Cool, thanks for these details SD80MAC! That explains the lengthened carbodies on CSX1 and CSX2.SD80MAC wrote: ↑Mon Aug 15, 2022 11:05 amThe extra length was added to house a stand-alone HEP diesel generator that does not draw off of the actual prime mover. Last time it was up here, it was running a good 2 hours ahead of schedule. Keep your ears open!

Last years thread for reference on times etc…
Obviously once it hits Plymouth last year’s trip doesn’t help because they stopped in Livonia and went to Rougemere.

Also keep in mind they’ll be running passenger speeds on the GR sub, and track speed on the Plymouth due to there being no passenger speeds.

If he continues on track he will be two hours early into Willard. Plan accordingly.
Re: CSX P001 Michigan Updates - August 17th, 2022
Obviously no one knows for certain how this trains schedule will go, but even if it arrives in GR 2 hours or more early is it still likely that it leaves between 6-7 am on Thursday?

Per a field report, by Republic Ohio at 1:47pm. Departed Willard 100 minutes earlier than previous schedule.
JBaxter - I believe current guess for departure in Grand Rapids is 5am tomorrow.
