Not a train sighting report, but a report that a former Ann Arbor Railroad rail spur in Howell has reappeared after not being seen in nearly 60 years. A short dead end spur was built in the 1960s to be used by Detroit Edison to bring in electrical poles for a storage yard on the southwest side of the main line just east of the railroad viaduct on the east end of Howell between there and Ann Pere diamond. This short track would only hold two cars and is just across the tracks from what is now Burger King parking lot.
A recent brush and tree clearing project by DTE under the electrical wires that follows the R of W has almost totally exposed the rails and bumper post which is still in place after the switch was removed from the main line many years ago. Never thought I would see this track ever again, especially at my age.

11:41 - 11:49 - GLC OSTN w 383/386/329 f/r/r and a massive train thru Durand. First half of train was all empty potash cars, most likely for AARR/Osmer. Second half was huge cuts of traffic out of ZFS/Ithaca and assorted other cars for csx.

11:10 - GLC OSTN SB at Durand w 383/386 f/r - Osmer cars on the head, CSX cars on the derriere
Into Cadillac approximately 1310. Just over 60 cars.
I've seen a lot of scrap ties this week out of Lansing for McBain.
Yeah. They are only burning in McBain now. They’ve been hurting for cars since GLC has been so irregular with service recently and they’ve been buying truckloads of scrap wood to burn as well.
